The Geology Of A Part Of The Bear River Range And Some Relationships That It Bears With The Rest Of The Range, Vic E. Peterson
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
The structure of the western three or four miles of the Bear River range east of Logan, Utah, has many times been alluded to in papers written locally on Cache Valley and the related ranges. There has not however, ever been, to the author's knowledge, an investigation made of this portion of the range for the express purpose of determining its exact structure. Although the area specifically covered by this present investigation is greatly inadequate to base the whole west range structure on, the author believes that the facts brought to light by the specific study of this area, added …

The Lime Content Of Rocks Of The Upper Cretaceous System Of Ellis County, Kansas, G. Lawrence Rarick
The Lime Content Of Rocks Of The Upper Cretaceous System Of Ellis County, Kansas, G. Lawrence Rarick
Master's Theses or Doctor of Nursing Practice
The report which is being submitted here is the result of several weeks of field and laboratory work investigating the rocks of the Upper Cretaceous System of Ellis County, Kansas. The writer has attempted to consider the subject primarily from a chemical viewpoint although much of the background for the work has been of a geological nature. There has been no attempt to give a complete chemical analysis of the rocks of the Upper Cretaceous System, but rather a more or less thorough analysis in regard to the percentage of lime that the rocks of the various formations and members …

Investigations Concerning Bentonite Deposits Near Ramsay, Montana, Anton A. Anjel, John F. Sullivan
Investigations Concerning Bentonite Deposits Near Ramsay, Montana, Anton A. Anjel, John F. Sullivan
Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970
The purpose of Part I of this report is to determine the origin of the bentonite deposits, also to locate them with reference to section corners in the vicinity and to determine their extent.
The field work for this report was done in the fall of 1933 and during the spring of 1934. The roads, geologic contacts, and culture in general were mapped with the use of an open sight alidade and plane table. Distances were determined on the roads by the speedometer on the automobile; the detailed survey in the immediate vicinity of the deposits was done with use …

The Geology And Mammalian Fauna Of The Pleistocene Of Nebraska Part I Outline Of Pleistocene Geology Of Nebraska Part Ii The Pleistocene Mammals Of Nebraska, A. L. Lugn, C. Bertrand Schultz
Bulletin of the University of Nebraska State Museum (1924–2023)
The object of the present paper is to provide a suitable brief statement of the present state of knowledge of the Pleistocene geology of Nebraska, for an adequate understanding of the Pleistocene Mammal list, by Mr. C. Bertrand Schultz, which forms Part II of this report. The "outline" is necessarily brief and does not contain many detailed sections, nor lengthy discussions of controversial points. It is lacking in adequate detailed descriptions of new formations and may not be entirely convincing to many readers. The only excuse which the writer can offer for the shortcomings of the following pages is the …

The Calcite Veins Of The Livingston Formation, John Moore Conrow
The Calcite Veins Of The Livingston Formation, John Moore Conrow
Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970
An interesting group of calcite veins occur near Livingston Montana in a zone about eight miles wide and forty miles long in the edge of the Plains region of Montana in front of the Main ranges. The zone extends from the Boulder River south of Big Timber, through Springdale and Hunters Hot Springs, to Potter's Basin just north of Wilsall in Park County. The group of veins is particularly interesting because they cut relatively flat lying strata, suggest a structural relationship to one another, and they are nearly pure calcite.
The present investigation was to determine the position of the …

The Scottsbluff Bison Quarry And Its Artifacts, Erwin Hinckley Barbour, C. Bertrand Schultz
Bulletin of the University of Nebraska State Museum (1924–2023)
The association of artifacts with extinct bison bones in a quarry near Grand Island, Hall County Nebraska,1 and from one in Custer County, Nebraska, have already been reported.2 In the meantime, continued search has been rewarded, and a large bed of fossil bison with associated flint implements found. The discovery, if not of actual consequence, at least adds something to the accumulating evidence that Pleistocene man in America may have been a reality.

All the findings and knowledge of electricity and magnetism are not new; even the Greeks as far back as 600 B. C. knew something about these forces. As time went on the facts increased.
After the experiments of Faraday, Maxwell, Hertz and such men as these, electricity and magnetism became a vital part of human life and endeavor. Within the last twenty-five years the advances in electricity have been very rapid. The action of the electric current is a vital part of many developments and is helping to make human life more enjoyable and interesting.

Nebraska Facts, Walter Kollmorgen
Nebraska Facts, Walter Kollmorgen
Conservation and Survey Division: Faculty and Staff Publications
Nebraska Facts, compiled by Walter Kollmorgen in the 1930s for the Conservation and Survey Division of the University of Nebraska, presents a concise statistical and descriptive overview of the state of Nebraska during the early twentieth century. The publication synthesizes data on Nebraska’s geography, climate, natural resources, agriculture, industry, transportation infrastructure, public health, and education. Emphasis is placed on the state’s agricultural productivity, manufacturing capacity, and favorable economic indicators, reflecting Nebraska’s role as a leading contributor to national food production and livestock markets during this period. The work also highlights public institutions, including the capitol building and the University …
