An Approach For Minimizing Spurious Errors In Testing Ada Tasking Programs, N. Mansouri, Amrit L. Goel
An Approach For Minimizing Spurious Errors In Testing Ada Tasking Programs, N. Mansouri, Amrit L. Goel
Electrical Engineering and Computer Science - Technical Reports
We propose an approach for detecting deadlocks and race conditions in Ada tasking software. It is based on an extension to Petri net-based techniques, where a concurrent program is modeled as a Petri net and a reachability graph is then derived and analyzed for desired information. In this approach, Predicate-Action subnets representing Ada programming constructs are described, where predicates and actions are attached to transitions. Predicates are those found in decision statements. Actions involve updating the status of the variables that affect the tasking behavior of the program and updating the Read and Write sets of shared variables. The shared …

A Petri Net-Based Tool For Detecting Deadlocks And Race Conditions In Concurrent Programs, Amrit L. Goel, N. Mansouri
Electrical Engineering and Computer Science - Technical Reports
A static analysis tool for detecting deadlocks and potential race conditions on shared variables in concurrent programs is presented. It is based on Petri Net modeling and reachability analysis, where a concurrent program is modeled as an augmented Petri net and a reachability graph is then derived and analyzed for desired information. Place-Transition subnets representing programming language constructs are described. Transitions in these subnets are augmented with sets of shared variables that occur in sections of the program, called concurrency zones, related to the transitions. The tool consists of four modules. The modeling module employs the augmented subnets as building …

Gateway Design For Lan Interconnection Via Isdn, Xian-Yu Zhang, Robert H. Deng
Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
Recently, the use of bridges/gateways to interconnect physically distant local area networks (LANs) has become increasingly popular. There are various ways of connecting these bridges/gateways. ISDN is one of them and an attractive one. In this paper we discuss our work in the gateway design for interconnecting LANs via ISDN.

The structure consists of discrete dinegative dichromate anions hydrogen bonded to monopositive pyrazinium N-oxide cations (N―H∙∙∙O=2∙724, 2∙644 Å). A strong hydrogen bond to the bridging O atom in the Cr₂O²₇⁻ anion leads to significant lengthening of the bridging Cr―O bonds. A short C―H∙∙∙O interaction (3∙180 Å) is also observed.
Radiosensitivity Parameters For Cell Survival In Tradescantia And For Chromosome Aberrations In Chinese Hamster Cells, Robert Katz, G. Huang
Radiosensitivity Parameters For Cell Survival In Tradescantia And For Chromosome Aberrations In Chinese Hamster Cells, Robert Katz, G. Huang
Robert Katz Publications
Data for the loss of reproductive integrity of Tradescantia stamen hairs irradiated with 250 keV X rays and 0.43 and 5.6 MeV neutrons are fitted with radiosensitivity parameters from track theory, with E0 and m from X-ray data while σ0 and κ are then found from neutron irradiations. The X-ray data display a clear shoulder with 100% survival below 0.18 Gy and a “linear tail.” Data for abnormal metaphases and chromatid exchanges in Chinese Hamster cells have also been fitted with parameters. Parameters for abnormal metaphases are nearly identical with those obtained years ago for cell killing from …

Robot Pedagogics: The Adaptation, Analysis, And Computer Control Of A Model Manipulator, Edward T. Hammerand, Chung You Ho
Computer Science Technical Reports
The subject of robotics is addressed by many different fields, among them computer science, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering. This work is an attempt to bring together all of these aspects from the perspective of a computer science background. Different techniques are considered and reconciled with one another in the analytical area, while detail and explanation are added in all areas that were not previously available. In addition, geometrical interpretations arc presented for concepts that have heretofore been presented only in the form of equations.

Hydrogeology And Hydrogeochemistry Of The Tekonsha Moraine And Adjacent Interlobate Deposits In Charleston Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, Victor V. Melbardis
Masters Theses
Hydrogeochemical analyses and hydrogeologic interpretations provide the basis for an understanding of local ground-water flow, in a 12 square mile study area, transected by the Tekonsha Moraine and bound by glaciofluvial deposits. Glacial tills separate an upper and lower aquifer system throughout most of the area.
Degraded and tritiated ground water is present in the lower aquifer system. A negative correlation (-0.62) between tritium concentrations and depth is statistically significant (.04). In this local system, hydrochemical trends are characterized by decreases in sulfate percentages and increases in bicarbonate in the direction of ground-water flow. Statistical evaluation of the hydrochemical data …

Radiative Kaon Capture On Deuterium And The Λn Scattering Lengths, William J. Fickinger, D. K. Robinson

The photon spectrum from K-d→Λnγ at rest has been measured for the first time. We obtained the branching ratio, in the end-point region, of (1.89±0.12±0.28)×10-3 where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. We have found that the shape of the photon energy spectrum is consistent with the distribution calculated by Workman and Fearing with Λn scattering lengths and effective ranges predicted by the Nijmegen group.

Sums Of Semiprime, Z, And D L-Ideals In A Class Of F-Rings, Suzanne Larson
Mathematics, Statistics and Data Science Faculty Works
In this paper it is shown that there is a large class of f-rings in which the sum of any two semiprime i-ideals is semiprime. This result is used to give a class of commutative f-rings with identity element in which the sum of any two z-ideals which are i-ideals is a z-ideal and the sum of any two d-ideals is a d-ideal.
Potential Petroleum Reservoir Rocks Of North-Central Oregon, Alfred J. Riddle
Potential Petroleum Reservoir Rocks Of North-Central Oregon, Alfred J. Riddle
Loma Linda University Electronic Theses, Dissertations & Projects
Petroleum explorationists have commonly assumed, based on the presence of volcanic and/or volcaniclastic rock, that regions such as northcentral Oregon do not hold potential as petroleum basins. The typical argument has been that volcanic flows have no effective porosity or permeability and poorly sorted volcaniclastic sediments contain a high percentage of mineralogically unstable grains which are too easily and rapidly altered into clays and zeolites for any significant or effective porosity to be retained.
The objective of this study was to determine if potential petroleum reservoir rocks do exist in north-central Oregon. Through field and laboratory study and by comparing …

Interference Enhancement Of The Internal Fields At Structural Scattering Resonances Of A Coated Sphere, James A. Lock
Interference Enhancement Of The Internal Fields At Structural Scattering Resonances Of A Coated Sphere, James A. Lock
Physics Faculty Publications
We examine the interior electromagnetic energy density of a coated nonabsorbing sphere at a number of scattering resonances. As is the case for an uncoated sphere, the interior energy density becomes large at the apl and bpl resonances. It becomes especially large for p - 1 values of the coating thickness at resonance. These p - 1 enhancements are analogous to the interference maxima that occur in the intensity reflectance of two thin films in contact.

Visual Speech Training Aid For The Deaf, Subhashri Venkat
Visual Speech Training Aid For The Deaf, Subhashri Venkat
Electrical & Computer Engineering Theses & Dissertations
A computer-based vowel articulation training aid has been developed. A "continuous" acoustic-phonetic transformation is performed to map speech parameters to a lower dimensionality display space. There are two possible approaches to this transformation problem. The transformation could be either linear or a combination nonlinear/linear. The nonlinear transformation is performed using a multi-layered feedforward neural network with linear output layers. Speech parameters are extracted either from an analog filter bank arrangement (band energies) or by a digital signal processing procedure (Discrete Cosine Transform Coefficients). The speech parameters obtained from both methods correspond to the spectral envelope of the speech signals. The …
