Enhancing Sleep Quality Through Sleep Hygiene Education Among Adults In A Faith-Based Community, Denielle Earle-Thompson Jun 2026

Enhancing Sleep Quality Through Sleep Hygiene Education Among Adults In A Faith-Based Community, Denielle Earle-Thompson

Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects

Background

Adults between 18 and 64 years of age require at least seven hours of sleep per night; however, many adults do not meet this recommendation, contributing to increased risks for chronic disease, impaired functioning, mood disturbances, and reduced quality of life. Poor sleep quality has been associated with weakened immunity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, anxiety, depression, and decreased daytime performance. Obtaining adequate, good-quality sleep is essential for maintaining overall health and well-being. In faith-based communities, combining health education with spiritual support may provide a holistic approach that addresses both physical and emotional contributors to poor sleep.

Preparing Adjunct Clinical Instructors For Success: The Impact Of A Structured Orientation Program On Perceived Capabilities As Measured By The Capabilities Of Nurse Educators (Cone) Questionnaire, Amanda Stone

Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects

Adjunct clinical instructors are essential in helping nursing students connect classroom learning to real-world patient care. A needs assessment within an associate degree nursing (ADN) program identified that adjunct clinical instructors received only a brief overview of policies, contributing to role uncertainty and inconsistent preparation for clinical teaching responsibilities. Current literature supports the use of structured orientation and mentorship to better prepare nurses as they transition into clinical educator roles. The purpose of this quantitative, quasi-experimental quality improvement project was to evaluate the impact of a structured orientation program on adjunct clinical instructors’ perceived capabilities. Guided by the Plan-Do-Study-Act change …

Implementation Of A Standardized Adverse Childhood Experiences Screening Process In A Primary Care Clinic, Tanya M. Wonnacott

Doctoral Dissertations & Projects

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are associated with increased risks of chronic disease, mental health disorders, substance use disorders, and premature mortality. Despite growing evidence supporting ACE screening, it remains inconsistent in many primary care settings, particularly among underserved populations. The purpose of this quality improvement project was to evaluate whether implementation of a standardized ACE screening workflow increased ACE screening completion and behavioral health referral within a nonprofit primary care clinic serving uninsured, underinsured, and refugee populations.

This project utilized a pre–post quality improvement design guided by Lewin’s Change Management Model and the Chronic Care Model. Interventions included standardized ACE …

Background: Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), particularly cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), hypertension and diabetes, are major contributors to morbidity and mortality globally and in Rwanda, where the dual burden of HIV and NCDs is increasing. Evidence remains limited on how biological, behavioural, social, environmental and health-system determinants influence cardiovascular and metabolic outcomes among people living with HIV (PLHIV) in Rwanda. The NCOHIRWA cohort was established to prospectively investigate determinants associated with CVDs, hypertension, diabetes and related NCD outcomes among PLHIV, newly diagnosed PLHIV and people without HIV (PWoH). This manuscript presents the protocol for the NCOHIRWA cohort study.

Methods:  The NCOHIRWA study …

Best Practices For Interprofessional, Community-Based Interventions In Preventing Type 2 Diabetes Among Adults Aged 50 And Older, Julie Joseph Mrs

Journal of Interprofessional Practice and Collaboration

The prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is rapidly increasing among adults aged 50 years and older in the United States, posing a significant public health challenge. In 2021, an estimated 38.4 million Americans had diabetes, with adults aged 50years and above constituting a disproportionately large segment of this population. Evidence suggests that community-based lifestyle and educational interventions are effective in reducing the risk of T2DM among older adults. These interventions particularly promote dietary modification, increased physical activity, and diabetes education. Integrating the expertise of nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, physicians, and other professionals through interprofessional collaboration strengthens diabetes prevention and …

Enhancing Hiv Prevention: Implementation And Evaluation Of A Standardized Hiv Risk Assessment Screening In A Primary Care Setting, William Duckworth Jun 2026

Enhancing Hiv Prevention: Implementation And Evaluation Of A Standardized Hiv Risk Assessment Screening In A Primary Care Setting, William Duckworth

Doctoral Dissertations

Background: HIV remains a persistent public health concern, with 1.3 million people affected worldwide. Although advances in treatment have improved long-term management, early prevention still relies on identifying individuals at elevated risk. In many primary care settings, routine HIV risk assessment is inconsistent or absent, resulting in missed opportunities to screen, educate and initiate prevention strategies such as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). This gap underscores the need for structured, evidence-based tools to improve early risk identification and strengthen HIV prevention efforts. Purpose: Implement and evaluate an evidence-based standardized screening process for HIV risk assessment to achieve early identification and enhance appropriate …
