Introduction: There is generally a concerning likelihood of burnout in healthcare workers. Given the impact of COVID-19 on healthcare workers, our institution identified the need for wellness interventions to foster adaptive functioning and mitigate burnout. The purpose of this pilot project was to assess the feasibility of virtual holistic interventions like meditation, art, laughter therapy and dance and their impact on overall well-being of physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs).

Methods: A series of 12 virtual sessions (art therapy, dance therapy, mindfulness-based practices/meditation and laughter therapy) were offered to providers over a 6-month period. Participants completed an online survey reporting …

Introduction: Individuals with serious mental illness often have persistent and disruptive symptoms. These can profoundly affect their children's lives, exposing them to adverse social and psychological conditions. Such conditions can result in traumatic lived experiences during childhood, which can carry over into adulthood, influencing their self-perceptions and shaping their attitudes toward themselves and society. To gain insights into this phenomenon, this study explored the lived experiences of adults who grew up with a parent with serious mental illness and their perceptions of their lives in adulthood. Education is correlated with health literacy, which is a combination of reading and listening skills, data analysis, and decision-making during the necessary health situations. This study aims to evaluate the effect of education on the risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). This is a population-based cross-sectional study using the 2019 nationwide survey data in Korea. There were 3951 study subjects, after excluding participants with missing data for key exposures and outcome variables. Descriptive statistics, χ2 (chi-square) test, and logistic regression were performed to analyze the data. Adults with Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease (EOAD), is the less common form of the neurodegenerative disease of Alzheimer's Disease (AD), where EOAD is found in adults younger than 65 years old (Alzheimer's Association, 2024). Characterized by a decline of memory, cognitive decline, loss of ability to perform daily tasks involving mobility and communication, EOAD does not have one significant cause. Background: Frequent acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) can lead to unfavorable patient outcomes and costly readmissions. Inadequate patient support during discharge and an inconsistent discharge process are factors contributing to high readmissions in this population.

Purpose: This quality improvement project aimed to reduce COPD-related hospital readmissions by standardizing the discharge process for patients admitted with AECOPD and identify patient risk factors for readmission.

Abstract

Insufficient fiber intake is a key contributor to diet-related chronic diseases (DRCD) such as obesity, hypertension, and diabetes. This evidence-based health promotion program evaluated integrating a teaching kitchen with the Full Plate Living Plan (FPL-TK) to increase daily fiber intake. Grounded in the Social Cognitive Theory, the 8-week employee health promotion program included hands-on culinary demonstrations, a structured FPL nutrition curriculum, and fiber tracking tools to help participants engage and participate in weekly health and wellness changes. การวิจัยกึ่งทดลองนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาผลของโปรแกรมการให้ข้อมูล การเสริมสร้างแรงจูงใจ และการพัฒนาทักษะ ต่อพฤติกรรมการใช้ยาฉีดอินซูลินของวัยรุ่นโรคเบาหวานชนิดที่ 1 โดยอิงตามกรอบแนวคิดของ Fisher และคณะ (2003) กลุ่มตัวอย่างเป็นวัยรุ่นอายุ 12–18 ปี ที่ได้รับการวินิจฉัยว่าเป็นโรคเบาหวานชนิดที่ 1 และได้รับการรักษาที่คลินิกโรคเบาหวาน สถาบันสุขภาพเด็กแห่งชาติมหาราชินี มาแล้วอย่างน้อย 6 เดือน และใช้ปากกาอินซูลิน จำนวน 24 คน แบ่งเป็นกลุ่มทดลองและกลุ่มควบคุมกลุ่มละ 12 คน กลุ่มทดลองได้รับโปรแกรมเป็นเวลา 3 สัปดาห์ ส่วนกลุ่มควบคุมได้รับการพยาบาลตามปกติ เครื่องมือวิจัยคือแบบประเมินพฤติกรรมการใช้ยาฉีดอินซูลิน ซึ่งมีค่าความตรงเชิงเนื้อหา 0.96 และค่าความเที่ยงรวม 0.76 วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้สถิติ Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test และ Mann-Whitney U Test ผลการศึกษาพบว่า กลุ่มทดลองมีคะแนนพฤติกรรมการใช้ยาฉีดอินซูลินสูงขึ้นอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติหลังเข้าร่วมโปรแกรม (W = 4.5, p = .01) อย่างไรก็ตาม คะแนนระหว่างกลุ่มทดลองและกลุ่มควบคุมหลังการทดลองไม่แตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (U = 83.0, p = .54)

Background: Hypertension affects nearly half of the population in the U.S., with the prevalence disproportionately higher in African Americans (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2023). Complications of uncontrolled hypertension, such as cardiovascular disorders and stroke, increase with age, prompting the importance of controlling high blood pressure in older adults. The patient population in Medical Intensive care units (MICU) have the highest risk of developing pressure injuries. These pressure injuries can be attributed from medical devices such as Endotracheal tubes, nasogastric tubes, chest tubes etc. Diligent care and assessment of skin is crucial upon admission. Aggressive measures need to be implemented early through prevention protocols, the Air-tap turning system, appropriate bed education, placement of foams/Z-flex boots on arrival to unit. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends exclusive breastfeeding for all infants until six months of age. In the United States, the exclusive breastfeeding rate is 52%, with a goal of 73% by Healthy People 2030 at six weeks of age. Breastfeeding difficulty will occur 70% of the time in mother-baby dyads, requiring some intervention by the primary care provider during the breastfeeding course. This study aims to build a clinical practice guideline that can guide interventions to improve successful breastfeeding rates in a birthing center.

Background: In the United States (U.S.), falls are the leading cause of injury among adults 65 and over, resulting in 36 million falls yearly (Moreland et al., 2020). According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, 2023), one in four older adults experiences a fall each year. Falls are the world's second most prominent cause of accidental deaths (World Health Organization [WHO], 2021). The major populations at risk for developing pressure ulcers are older adults who have multiple risk factors that increase their vulnerability, people who are critically ill and those with spinal cord injury/disease. Background: Central line associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs) are preventable healthcare associated infections (HAI) in the United States. CLABSIs are associated with increased length of hospital stays, mortality, and financial implications for both patients and hospital systems. Extensive research has shown implementing CLABSI prevention bundles can reduce infections and costs. These bundles are often misused, highlighting the importance of bundle compliance and education.

Background: The American Diabetes Association (ADA) recommends screening for prediabetes using a validated assessment tool in asymptomatic adults starting at age 35. An effective process to raise screening numbers to identify those at risk of prediabetes and diabetes is needed to provide quality care.
Methods: Nursing staff were educated on use of the risk assessment tool and principles of motivational interviewing (MI). Utilizing the ADA risk assessment tool identified those at risk. Nursing staff completed MI with individuals who scored 5 or higher. A readiness for change survey was completed by patients after receiving MI. Additionally, individuals received education on …
