Effectiveness Of Simulation In The Education Of Rns Transitioning Into The Operating Room, Cortney Ann Lupo
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
RNs who are new to the operating room (OR) must gain confidence and clinical reasoning skills to care for individuals undergoing surgery. Training in the OR is stressful but using simulation for training RNs new to the OR may improve clinical reasoning and confidence. The purposes of this two group, repeated measures study, guided by National League of Nursing/ Jefferies simulation theory and Benner’s novice to expert theory, were to determine if there was a difference in (a) clinical reasoning levels of RNs new to the OR who received simulation compared to clinical reasoning levels of RNs new to the …

Nurse Educators’ Experiences In Implementing Concept-Based Teaching, Ma Camlaria Felismino
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The National League for Nursing called for implementing innovative teaching strategies in nursing education. Concept-based teaching (CBT) is a method that encourages learners to interpret, analyze, and integrate knowledge. Despite reports that CBT improves student outcomes and enhances critical thinking, the adoption of CBT is slow. This qualitative descriptive study, guided by Rogers’s diffusion of innovations theory, explored how nurse educators have experienced implementing CBT. Secondary data were analyzed from interviews conducted with 13 participants. Using constant comparative analysis, seven key themes emerged and were linked to the successful adoption and implementation of CBT: communication, learning from established programs, curriculum …

Assessing Nurse Educators' Competencies For Adopting Blended Learning In The Skills Labs In Uganda's Public Nursing Schools, Eva Kakonge Nampiima, Mathias M Bwanika Ulumba, Musisi Badru, Grace Nakate
School of Nursing & Midwifery, East Africa
Blended learning has become an integral part of nursing education, offering a blend of online and face-to-face instruction that enhances learning experiences, particularly within skills labs. However, the effectiveness of blended learning largely depends on the competencies of nurse educators in utilizing digital tools and methodologies. This study assessed the competencies of nurse educators in Uganda's public nursing schools concerning blended learning adoption. Data was collected from 40 randomly selected nursing educators in 4 public nursing schools in Uganda. The findings indicate significant inadequacies: only 25% are proficient with Learning Management Systems (LMS) like Moodle, 20% can effectively use platforms …

Staff Education Program To Enhance Patient Handover Communication, Olufemi Olawale
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Patient handover communication is the process that occurs when nurses transfer responsibility for patient care and give status reports to nurses who are assuming care of the patient. The practice problem at the project site was the gap in quality, accuracy, and completeness of information that was shared during the handover process. The purpose of this project was to develop, implement, and evaluate a staff education program on effective communication handover between nurses and care providers. The practice-focused question for this project was: Will a staff education project increase nurses’ and clinicians’ knowledge and competency with using the situation, background, …

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the second most common cancer in humans and the fifth most prevalent worldwide. Although the survival rate of HCC has increased over time, postoperative recurrences remain high after a decade. HCC can be caused by both viral and non-viral diseases. There are two major global risk factors for HCC these are: hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV). As part of routine health exams, complete blood counts can detect a variety of disorders, including infections, anemia, immune system disorders, and blood cancers. A complete blood count (CBC) can be used to perform a biochemical …

A metabolic illness known as diabetes mellitus (DM) is brought on by the body's decreased secretion and/or activity of the hormone insulin. The condition worsens, pathological alterations in the body, such as nephropathy, retinopathy, and cardiovascular problems, become inevitable. Type I and II DM are the two primary subtypes of DM. Oral hypoglycaemics are used to treat type II diabetes, while insulin replacement therapy is typically used to treat type I diabetes. Patients typically receive dual drug treatments. Despite using oral hypoglycemic medications as monotherapy, have not been able to accomplish their therapeutic goals with first-line therapy.

Burnout is considered by the World Health Organization as an occupational phenomena specifically resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed, and is not related to other life events. Given the need for support among registered nurses in reducing consequences of burnout and the emerging data about mindfulness based practices as a tool to enhance resilience, this integrated review seeks to understand if education on mindfulness based interventions can …
