Fish Meal Serum Modulates Mitochondrial Membrane Potential In Steroidogenic Cells: Implications For Luteoprotection In Cattle, Tyra Marie Goodluck Aug 2026

Fish Meal Serum Modulates Mitochondrial Membrane Potential In Steroidogenic Cells: Implications For Luteoprotection In Cattle, Tyra Marie Goodluck

Master's Theses

The bovine corpus luteum (CL) is a transient endocrine gland that forms after ovulation and produces progesterone, a hormone crucial for early pregnancy. The cattle industry faces tremendous losses annually due to early embryonic mortality within the first 100 days of gestation, where approximately 16% occur during a critical timeframe known as the maternal recognition of pregnancy (MRP). In a normal estrous cycle, if no viable embryo is present, the uterus secretes prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α) during the late luteal phase, triggering luteal regression. One key action of PGF2α is reducing luteal blood flow, leading to hypoxia. This hypoxic state induces …

The Acute Effect Of A Single Dose Of Berberine On Blood Glucose Response Following A Standardized Meal And 2-Mile Walk Performance In Healthy Adults, Victor Emmanuel Obaro

Master's Theses

It is clear that exercise improves overall health status, and it is possible that berberine (BR) may work through some similar mechanisms to improve health status as well.  Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the acute effects of a single dose of BR on health status following a standardized meal and a 2 mile walk treadmill protocol with outcomes including blood glucose (BG), blood pressure (BP), heart rate (HR), rate of perceived exertion (RPE), and a two-mile walk time trial performance. Methods: This study used a cross-over design where 14 healthy, young adults were given berberine (BBR) …

Differential Effects Of Generative Artificial Intelligence On Formative And Summative Assessment Performance: A Quasi-Experimental Longitudinal Study, Md Istiak Morsalin Aug 2026

Differential Effects Of Generative Artificial Intelligence On Formative And Summative Assessment Performance: A Quasi-Experimental Longitudinal Study, Md Istiak Morsalin

Master's Theses

Generative artificial intelligence has unsettled a core assumption of course assessment: that scores on unsupervised work reflect what students can do unassisted. This study tests whether the widespread availability of ChatGPT altered student performance differently on formative versus summative assessments in Business Analytics and Foundations, a required undergraduate quantitative-methods course taught by one instructor across nine cohorts. In a quasi-experimental longitudinal design, the Fall~2022 cohort ($n = 90$), the last to finish before ChatGPT's public release, serves as a control against eight post-ChatGPT cohorts spanning Spring~2023 through Summer~2025 ($N = 646$). Outcomes were drawn from McGraw-Hill Connect records using matched …

Impact Of Inguinal Fat Trauma On Collateral Arteriolar Sympathetic Innervation Following Arteriogenesis, Sydney Christina Luong Aug 2026

Impact Of Inguinal Fat Trauma On Collateral Arteriolar Sympathetic Innervation Following Arteriogenesis, Sydney Christina Luong

Biological Sciences

Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) is caused by a buildup of plaque in the arteries, leading to reduced blood flow and tissue ischemia. Arteriogenesis, the formation of natural bypasses through collateral vessels, is a promising therapeutic target for PAD, but the presence of enlarged collaterals does not always result in a protective effect. This may be because arteriogenesis is associated with loss of vascular tone, or the ability to vasodilate in response to changes in tissue metabolic demand or pharmacological agents. One of the primary regulators of vascular tone is the sympathetic nervous system (SNS), the increased activity of which increases …

Three Decades Of Supreme Court Copyright Decisions: A Peek Behind The Scenes, Jonathan Band Aug 2026

Three Decades Of Supreme Court Copyright Decisions: A Peek Behind The Scenes, Jonathan Band

Joint PIJIP/TLS Research Paper Series

This article discusses the revelations in the case files of eight Supreme Court Justices concerning eighteen copyright-related decisions issued by the Court between 1973 and 2005. The papers show the Court as a profoundly human institution, with the Justices often struggling to craft opinions that could gain the support of a majority. The Justices clearly cared about the copyright merits, but they were also willing to compromise to achieve a certain result. In several cases, the final opinion was anything but inevitable. This was particularly so with Sony Corporation of America v. Universal City Studios, 464 U.S. 417 (1984), …

Enhancing Quality Of Care Through Streamlined Pediatric Ot Resources, Mallori Cooper Aug 2026

Enhancing Quality Of Care Through Streamlined Pediatric Ot Resources, Mallori Cooper

Occupational Therapy Doctorate Capstone Posters

This capstone project focused on improving the accessibility and organization of evidence-based pediatric occupational therapy resources to support clinical staff and enhance quality of care. In pediatric practice, therapists often experience limited time for preparation outside of treatment sessions due to high workloads and administrative demands, which can make it challenging to consistently develop and access caregiver education and intervention resources. At the same time, caregiver education and coaching are essential components of pediatric occupational therapy, as they support carryover of strategies and improved functional outcomes. Through partnership with an outpatient pediatric therapy clinic, Associates in Pediatric Therapy, a centralized …

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in the United States, and these women experience high rates of anxiety, depression, and disruption to daily routines and meaningful occupations. Evidence shows that education on self-management strategies, mindfulness-based interventions, and targeted occupational therapy interventions can support the mental health of women experiencing breast cancer. Furthermore, remaining engaged in meaningful occupations is essential to improving overall well-being and quality of life. The purpose of this capstone project was to develop and deliver accessible, evidence-based education in digital and print formats that specifically target identifying mental health challenges, self-management strategies, and …

A Social-Ecological Systems Approach To Integrating Outdoor Recreation And Black Bear Management: A Michigan Case Study, Megan Dorothy Stone Aug 2026

A Social-Ecological Systems Approach To Integrating Outdoor Recreation And Black Bear Management: A Michigan Case Study, Megan Dorothy Stone

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Fall 2023 to Present

Outdoor recreation sits at the intersection of social and ecological systems, representing one of the primary ways in which humans directly interact with their natural environment. As a result, outdoor recreation management must balance providing high-quality outdoor recreation opportunities while simultaneously protecting natural resources in protected areas. Balancing these concurrent management goals has become more challenging in recent years as participation in outdoor recreation increases. This can lead to numerous negative impacts on the environment, such as wildlife disturbance. In this study, I explore the challenges and opportunities for collaboration between managers of outdoor recreation and black bears in the …

Legitimacy, Legality, And Canadian Climate Laws, Adebayo Majekolagbe Aug 2026

Legitimacy, Legality, And Canadian Climate Laws, Adebayo Majekolagbe

Dalhousie Law Journal

In 2021, the Supreme Court of Canada, in the References re Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act, confirmed that global climate change is real, human activities are the main cause, and climate impacts will be especially severe and devastating in Canada. Against this backdrop, the Court upheld the federal government's authority to set a nationwide minimum standard for the stringency of greenhouse gas pricing. Years after the Court endorsed the GGPPA, the legislation and its carbon pricing policy have struggled to gain legitimacy, meaning the acceptance and support of Canadians. In 2025, the carbon charge component of the law was suspended, …

The Evolution Of The Modern Library Brand: Transforming Community Engagement Into Sustainable Revenue, Slone Williams

Georgia Library Quarterly

This article examines the development of the Cobb Library Shop, an e-commerce initiative launched by the Cobb County Public Library to generate sustainable funding through brand engagement. Built on a modest startup budget, the shop integrates a multichannel sales strategy and leverages internal talent to create a scalable, community-centered retail model.

The project achieved a full return on investment within 14 days and continues to demonstrate steady revenue expansion. By combining entrepreneurial practices with public service values, this case study highlights how libraries can diversify funding streams, enhance community engagement, and establish a replicable model for revenue-generating library systems.

Temporal Legitimacy And Civilizational Logic: A Sociological Perspective On The Foundational Principles Of Chinese Civilization, Yuk Man Cheung Aug 2026

Temporal Legitimacy And Civilizational Logic: A Sociological Perspective On The Foundational Principles Of Chinese Civilization, Yuk Man Cheung

Comparative Civilizations Review

This article departs from the recent social-scientific analytical framework for comparative civilizations proposed by the sociologist Liah Greenfeld (2024a, 2024b, 2025) and puts forward several basic conjectures regarding the analysis of the characteristics of Chinese civilization, with the aim of assisting our understanding, execution, and integration of empirical studies. Precisely because these are conjectures, they differ from conventional academic research–especially the case-study-oriented research style dominant in contemporary Anglophone academia. Accordingly, this article can only be regarded as an attempt that, starting from sociological theory, offers preliminary conjectures and tentatively constructs a theoretical framework within which specialists from different fields may …

Cognitive Foundations Of The Absence Of Antisemitism In Japan: Towards A Civilizational Perspective, Chikako Takeishi Aug 2026

Cognitive Foundations Of The Absence Of Antisemitism In Japan: Towards A Civilizational Perspective, Chikako Takeishi

Comparative Civilizations Review

This paper explores the gap between civilizations in the forms antisemitism takes and the cognitive modes on which it is based, given its significance for comparative civilizational analysis. Antisemitism is characterized by two features — the expressive nature of violence and an orientation toward the elimination of an entire group — which are particularly salient compared to other forms of anti-sentiment familiar in the age of nationalism. In the first section of this paper, I argue that antisemitism exhibiting these features has not been present in Japanese history. The subsequent sections, building on Greenfeld’s theory of civilization, examine existential envy …

The Family As A Mechanism Of Civilizational Continuity: Absorption, Localization, And Rejection Of Modern Values In The Indic Case, Monika Monika Aug 2026

The Family As A Mechanism Of Civilizational Continuity: Absorption, Localization, And Rejection Of Modern Values In The Indic Case, Monika Monika

Comparative Civilizations Review

Contrary to the common view that the family socializes the individual into a given culture, this paper insists that the family performs a far more profound, indeed, a constitutive function. It is not simply the first school of civilizational values; it is the primary institutional site through which a civilization reproduces its symbolic order and, in so doing, acts as the gatekeeper of civilizational continuity and change. It is here that a civilization’s foundational principles are first internalized; and it is here, too, that modern values, or new norms thrust upon it by encounters with alien civilizations ⎯ are first …

Exploring Rural Culture And Gambling Harm Among Young Adults In Central Appalachia, Noah S. Anderson, James P. Whelan, Meredith K. Ginley

Appalachian Student Healthcare Research Review

Background: Gambling-related harms are increasing among young adults, yet limited research has examined how rural cultural identity shapes gambling engagement and associated harms. Appalachia is a predominantly rural region with distinct cultural values, limited behavioral health access, and increasing exposure to legalized and informal gambling opportunities.

Purpose: This study examined whether Appalachian self-identification and affective states are associated with gambling engagement and gambling-related harm among college students residing in central Appalachia.

Methods: Participants were 395 undergraduate students recruited from a central Appalachian public university who completed an online survey assessing Appalachian self-identification, gambling engagement, gambling-related symptom severity (Problem Gambling Severity …
