Piano playing is no longer a luxury for the talented few, but rather a musical activity in which many participate. Bluebeard's Castle Of Bela Bartok : An Analysis, Dean Harley Finney Jan 1964

Bluebeard's Castle Of Bela Bartok : An Analysis, Dean Harley Finney

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

The story of Bluebear has been the center of many theatrical and musical works. From its mystery-shrouded origin, the legend and its principal characters have experienced numerous transformations. Charles Perrault’s tale, the first known published version of the story, served as a basis for all succeeding treatments of the theme, which have handled the various characters differently -- at times stressing Bluebeard, and at other times, the heroine. The theme of the Bluebeard legend has appeared in literature in delightful fairytales and in several dramas, both tragic and comic. Musically, the legend has been employed in numerous operas and as …

Thou Shalt Keep Christmas: An Operetta For Upper Elementary Grades Or Junior High School Performance, Marion Gertrude Arends

Dissertations and Theses @ UNI

Numerous operettas with Christmas themes, some sacred, some secular, some employing familiar carols, and some entirely original in both text and lyrics have been written for the elementary grades and junior high. There are many pageants depicting Christmas customs and using carols from many countries of the world. However, an investigation of available material has not revealed an operetta based strictly on carols and customs of just one country. The carols and customs of Old England three and four centuries ago are particularly interesting because of the fact that our founding fathers came from the shores of that country, and …
