The use of synthetic antibiotics as antibiotic growth promoters (AGPs) in broiler chickens raises concerns over antibiotic residues and bacterial resistance, necessitating safer natural alternatives. Ruellia tuberosa L. contains various secondary metabolites with potential antibacterial properties; however, its in vivo efficacy against Salmonella sp. remains poorly documented. Challenges to moral values can result in the experience of moral distress, a problem that is common within the clinical nursing context. Background: Feasibility studies play a critical role in determining whether clinical or educational interventions can be implemented as intended before progressing to large-scale trials. In nursing education, many innovative teaching strategies, particularly complex interventions such as simulation-based learning, are often advanced directly to full trials without first establishing feasibility. Children in Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs), including the US border regions, experience delays in the diagnosis of hereditary hearing loss (HL), driven primarily by limited access to specialized genetic services. Although approximately 60% of congenital HL has a genetic etiology, many affected children in these communities remain undiagnosed, delaying timely intervention. Objectives: Neurocognitive function is vital in sports, but evidence supporting neurocognitive reaction testing in upper extremity return-to-sport testing is limited. This study's purpose was to quantify measurement properties of upper extremity reactive testing in collegiate athletes, hypothesizing acceptable measurement properties for clinical use.

Design: Cross-Sectional Study.

Setting: Collegiate athletics.

Pediatric obstructive sleep apnea (POSA) is a common childhood disease that often causes aberrant brain development and cognitive deficits. The pathophysiological underpinnings of cognitive impairments in POSA remain unclear. Here, we examined cellular and molecular aspects of pathology in a mouse model of POSA that features learning and memory deficits. We performed single-nucleus RNA-sequencing (snRNA-seq) of the hippocampus to examine gene expression changes in an unbiased and cell type-specific manner. This dataset revealed a striking perturbation of transcriptomes across all brain cell types, particularly within glia and neural stem cells. This paper presents the results of a developmental causal analysis of the adult personality of innovative entrepreneur and business leader Elon Musk, from the conceptual perspective of personologist Theodore Millon.

Psychodiagnostically relevant data relating to Musk’s personality were collected from biographical sources and media reports and synthesized into a personality profile using the Millon Inventory of Diagnostic Criteria (MIDC), which yields 34 normal and maladaptive personality classifications congruent with DSM-III-R, DSM-IV, and DSM-5-TR.

However, its biological activities and therapeutic potential have not been adequately established through scientific investigation. The pesticide p,p'-DDT (DDT) and its analogs (p,p'-DDD, o,p'-DDD, and p,p'-DDE) inhibit the binding of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) to the androgen receptor (AR) and estradiol (E2) to the estrogen receptor (ERα) ligand-binding domains (LBDs), as previously reported. In this study, we introduce assays to measure the release of receptor-bound steroids. These compounds induced the release of DHT from the AR LBD and E2 from the ERα LBD. These findings suggest that DDT and its analogs may interact with a surface site on the LBD, thereby allosterically disrupting steroid binding. One potential site is binding function 3 (BF3). Background. Medical schools accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) are often required to demonstrate improvement on accreditation elements in a relatively short amount of time. In October 2021, the LCME cited our institution as Unsatisfactory for the self-directed learning (SDL) element after 21.3% of second-year medical (M2) students reported dissatisfaction with unscheduled time for SDL. The LCME required us to demonstrate improvement in a status update due December 2022. In this paper, we describe a rapid continuous quality improvement (CQI) approach that successfully increased student satisfaction and achieved full compliance within 1 year.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to characterize practices and decision-making for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) for congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract (CAKUT).

METHODS: General practices (GP) section inquired about institutional practices and barriers, ECMO criteria, and dialysis. The hypothetical cases (HC) illustrated four clinical scenarios with varying degrees of renal severity for ECMO candidacy.

RESULTS: Then, 99 (42 centers) and 91 (38 centers) physicians completed the GP and HC components, respectively. The majority considered ECMO on a case-by-case basis (66%). INTRODUCTION: Early biomarkers of hyperfiltration-induced injury are not known. We previously reported elevated urinary prostaglandin E2 (PGE₂) preceding albuminuria in children with solitary kidney, and upregulated cyclooxygenase-2 (COX2)-PGE₂-EP2 axis in unilaterally nephrectomized mice. To determine chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage-associated changes in urinary eicosanoids, baseline urine samples from the CKD in children (CKiD) biorepository (n = 318) and a comparator group of children with enuresis (n = 72) were analyzed.

Since vocabulary plays a significant role in second language acquisition, expansive vocabulary targets should be set and pursued. This paper explores the results of introducing affixes to develop vocabulary and increase motivation for beginner to intermediate-level English language learners (ELLs) pursuing academic disciplines in law, science, and technology at a New York City community college. Participants included 23 ELLs with diverse linguistic, educational, and sociocultural backgrounds enrolled in an online synchronous Integrative Language Seminar (ILS) designed to develop all areas of English language proficiency.
