There seems little that can be done to eradicate or even control natural disasters, considering the current state-of-the-art. If nothing can be done to prevent them, we must be prepared to cope with them whenever they do occur.

One possibility for greater assurance that hospital will properly accomplish its post disaster mission is an up-to-date, well-thought-out " Hospital Emergency Preparedness Plan." A well written and rehearsed disaster plan is essential for the proper and timely care of casualties arising from an internal or external disaster.

Mental Health Treatment Refusal In Correctional Institutions: A Sociological And Legal Analysis, Rudolph Alexander Jr.

The Journal of Sociology & Social Welfare

Recently, the courts have recognized the right to a minimum level of mental health treatment for individuals confined in both mental and correctional institutions, utilizing a different rationale for each system. As mental health administrators in state mental hospitals accepted that they were responsible for providing an increased level of mental health services, they were disappointed that courts had subsequently ruled that individuals in state hospitals had a right to refuse treatment. New Antimuscarinic Agents For Improved Treatment Of Poisoning By Cholinesterase Inhibitors, Robert Lee Hudkins

Theses and Dissertations

Poisoning by organophosphate cholinesterase inhibitors results in a rapid rise in acetylcholine (ACh) in the synapse and many pronounced pharmacological effects in numerous tissues in the body. The treatment for organophosphorus poisoning involves administration of a cholinesterase—reactivating oxime to restore the activity of the cholinesterase and an antimuscarinic agent to block the response to the excess ACh. Presently atropine is the standard antimuscarinic agent used clinically as an antidote. This research was directed toward finding an antimuscarinic agent better than atropine as an antidote.
