A Survey To Determine The Incidence Of Antibodies Against Q Fever In Persons In Utah, Carl H. Blank

Q fever, as a recognized clinical entity, is often referred to as a new disease of man. Pneumonic in character but lacking clean-cut pathognomic characteristics, in all probability Q fever has been confused in the past with influenza, primary atypical pneumonia (1), or included as an undifferentiated disease under "virus pneumonia." Geddis Smith (2), writing in 1941, stated:

...influenza, pneumonia, "pleurisy", or bronchitis ... form a nosological jungle in which bacteria and viruses roam at will, despoiling the human race and defying both classification and control. Symptoms overlap and no one knows how many different diseases lurk behind them.

Introduction The importance of selecting only foods containing proteins of high nutritive value has been somewhat over-emphasized in the past because of the failure to recognize the possibility of supplementary relationships among proteins that are not of high quality. Hart (11) has wisely suggested that a food should not be relegated to an inferior class because its proteins, when fed alone, are not of high biological value. Sherman (31) has reminded us that with a knowledge of the nutritional chemistry of the proteins of various foods, it becomes relatively easy to utilize their supplementary relationships so that …

The purpose of this study is to compile an accurate and, in so far as possible, a complete history of the Indiana Dental College. It is hoped that such a study will help to clarify the reasons for the emphasis upon certain aspects of dental curriculums in the past, and that it will help in evaluating the needs of the future program to eliminate encumberaces of traditional approaches which, in some instances, are no longer appropriate.

Studies On The Trematode Larva Neascus, Thomas Reyes

During the spring semesters of 1955 and 1956, while the writer was under the supervision of Dr. A. E. Noble, a preliminary survey was initiated on parasites in local fishes, amphibians, and reptiles occurring in the vicinity of Stockton, California. The collection of specimens in this survey included sixteen green sunfish, Lepomis cyanella, and two bluegills, L. macrochirus. Larval trematodes recovered from the heart and liver of these specimens belonged to the family Diplostomatidae Poirier (1886) which is characterized by a conspicuous constriction separating the fore and hind-bodies.
