Black race and Hispanic ethnicity are associated with higher mortality in severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) following hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT), though mechanisms remain unclear. We evaluated 796 children with SCID who received nonsibling HCT between 1982 and 2020 using data from the Primary Immune Deficiency Treatment Consortium. Overall survival for Black (aHR 2.47, 95%CI 1.64, 3.71) and Asian/Pacific Islander patients (aHR 1.82, 95%CI 1.00, 3.30) was significantly lower compared with non-Hispanic White patients, while Hispanic patients had lower event-free survival (aHR 1.83, 95%CI 1.27, 2.63) compared with non-Hispanic White patients. Being married is related to better health, but many studies reveal greater health benefits among men relative to women. Some research has indicated that married individuals exhibit decelerated epigenetic age relative to individuals who are not married, but questions remain regarding gender differences therein. The purpose was to investigate gender differences in associations of marital status to epigenetic age (ing) assessed on three clocks/algorithms (PhenoAge, GrimAge, and DunedinPACE).

Background: Pneumonia remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality among people living with HIV (PLHIV), particularly in low- and middle-income countries. Despite the availability of antiretroviral therapy (ART), early mortality after hospitalization for pneumonia remains high. Indian data on short-term mortality predictors in HIV-associated pneumonia are limited.

Methods: We conducted a prospective observational study of HIV-positive adults admitted with pneumonia to a tertiary-care hospital in North India between April and December 2025. Contrast-associated acute kidney injury (CA-AKI) is a known complication following

coronary angiographic procedures using iodinated contrast media (ICM). The risk of CA-AKI is

multifactorial, dependent largely on estimated glomerular filtration rates. The most important

and accepted hospital-based preventive strategy involves both a reduction of iodinated contrast

and multi-hour pre- and post-intervention normal saline hydration. Because of time constraints,

neither ambulatory surgical centers (ASC), nor outpatient-based laboratories (OBL)

can provide similar degrees of pre- and post-intervention hydration. The utilization of

carbon dioxide (CO₂) imaging, intravascular ultrasonography, and limited iso-osmolar

contrast agents may provide an alternative preventive strategy.

This review provides a comprehensive overview of current immunotherapeutic approaches, including immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), cancer vaccines, dendritic cell (DC)-based vaccines, chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapy, and oncolytic virus therapy. The mechanisms of action, therapeutic applications, and clinical benefits of each modality are discussed. Its pathogenesis was attributed to disturbances in the Janus Kinase/Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription signaling pathway. In this research, an innovative lead compound C6 was created and docked toward Janus Kinase1 (JAK1). The docking process was confirmed by re-docking of the co-crystallized ligand MI1 (Tofacitinib). C6 showed a predicted docking score of -9.17 kcal/mol, with enhancement of 1.26 kcal/mol over Tofacitinib. Respiratory processes are increasingly implicated in shaping neural activity and behavior. Recent studies have reported a coupling between respiratory phase and the cortical readiness potential (RP), suggesting that breathing may modulate the neural processes preceding voluntary action. Here, using electroencephalography recordings in humans, we re-examine this claim using the original dataset and a new independent dataset, as well as in simulated data with no coupling. We show that the reported association arises from a confound: both RP amplitude and respiratory phase are coupled to movement onset. Background and objectives: Pediatric-onset opsoclonus-myoclonus-ataxia syndrome (POOMAS) is a rare, neuroinflammatory syndrome that targets the cerebellum and can cause irreversible cerebellar structural changes, namely cerebellar atrophy. We investigated the frequency of cerebellar atrophy, as well as associated risk factors and functional outcome measures, using the largest active POOMAS registry.

Methods: This was a retrospective observational study of participants with POOMAS with disease onset from 1995 to 2025 using data from the multinational, multicenter POOMAS registry. Variables were compared between the cerebellar atrophy subgroups using the Fisher exact test or Wilcoxon rank-sum test.

Despite the lack of evidence of a mechanism-based drug interaction, some professional organizations have advised caution coadministering apixaban and levetiracetam. Eligible patients taking apixaban with or without levetiracetam for any indication for at least 72 h were screened from the electronic medical records. Plasma samples from 77 patients were retrieved from salvaged clinical blood collections. Apixaban minimum and maximum concentrations (Cmin and Cmax) were compared using descriptive statistics in R. While the median Cmin and Cmax appear to be marginally elevated, there were no apparent differences relative to apixaban alone. Background: Cannabis use and cannabis-related disorders have increased significantly worldwide. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of acute periapical abscesses (PAs) in cannabis users.

Methods: Data from 1,799,122 patients were analyzed and the odd ratio (OR) of acute PAs and their association with cannabis use were statistically compared.

Results: Patients using cannabis showed significantly more PAs than nonusers. The difference was statistically significant. Following adjustment for diabetes and smoking comorbidities, the statistical difference remained significant.

Conclusion: The risk for acute PAs is significantly higher in cannabis users as compared to nonusers.

This paper presents the results of a developmental causal analysis of the adult personality of U.S. vice president JD Vance, from the conceptual perspective of personologist Theodore Millon.

Psychodiagnostically relevant data relating to Vance’s personality were collected from biographical sources and media reports and synthesized into a personality profile using the Millon Inventory of Diagnostic Criteria (MIDC), which yields 34 normal and maladaptive personality classifications congruent with DSM-III-R, DSM-IV, and DSM-5-TR.

Background: Based on renal injury reported in critically ill and septic patients, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a black box warning regarding hydroxyethyl starch (HES 130/0.4) use in 2013 and expanded the warning to surgical and trauma patients in 2021. Similarly, the European Medicines Agency initiated withdrawal of hydroxyethyl starch in 2022. This study was a new meta-analysis focused on renal injury designed to complement a 2021 meta-analysis of perioperative hydroxyethyl starch use, adding 45 trials and 6,895 patients. The focus was acute kidney injury and preoperative-to-postoperative change in creatinine concentration in surgical patients.
