5-year-old neutered male domestic shorthair cat was presented with unilateral anterior uveitis and ocular pain in the left eye without systemic signs. Ophthalmic examination revealed a superficial corneal ulcer, keratic precipitates, and aqueous flare. Ocular ultrasonography identified ciliary body thickening and a nodular mass-like lesion posterior to the ciliary body. Despite systemic corticosteroid treatment after corneal ulcer healing, no clinical improvement was observed. Computed tomography revealed contrast-enhancing thickening of the ciliary body and uveoscleral region. Enucleation and histopathology demonstrated pyogranulomatous inflammation without evidence of neoplasia or detectable infectious organisms. Immunohistochemistry for feline coronavirus antigen was not performed at that time. …

Beyond Revascularization: Is Tibial Transverse Transport The Next Frontier In Diabetic Limb Salvage?, Karishma A. Sebastian, Nidhin John
School of Podiatric Medicine - Student Research
Poster Category: Non-sponsored.
Level of Evidence: Level III
Introduction: Diabetic foot ulceration remains a major cause of lower-extremity amputation despite multidisciplinary wound care, debridement, infection control, offloading, and revascularization. Tibial transverse transport (TTT), based on the Ilizarov tension-stress principle, uses controlled transverse distraction of tibial cortex to promote angiogenesis and distal microcirculation in severe or recalcitrant diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs).
Aim: To systematically evaluate whether TTT improves wound healing, distal perfusion, ulcer recurrence, and limb salvage in severe or recalcitrant DFUs and define its potential role as an adjunctive salvage intervention.
Methods: A PRISMA-guided review of peer-reviewed literature through August …

Glp-1 Receptor Agonists And Wound Healing In Diabetic Foot Ulcers: A Scoping Review, Merlin Sajeev, Amanda L. Killeen
School of Podiatric Medicine - Student Research
Level of Evidence: Level 5
Poster Category: Non-sponsored
Introduction: Diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) are a major complication of diabetes and are associated with delayed wound healing, infection, amputation, and substantial morbidity. Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) improve glycemic control and may influence inflammation, vascular function, and tissue repair. However, clinical evidence evaluating their relationship with DFU healing remains limited.
Aim: To characterize available clinical evidence examining the association between GLP-1 RA use and wound-healing outcomes in patients with diabetic foot ulcers.
Methods: PubMed and Google Scholar were searched for English-language studies published from 2021–2026 using terms combining “GLP-1 receptor …

Why Do Indonesians Travel Abroad For Medical Treatment? A Qualitative Phenomenological Study, Lucky Sarjono Buranda, Aries Wahyuningsih, Steven Busby
Journal of Indonesian Health Policy and Administration
More than one million Indonesian citizens travel abroad for medical treatment each year, generating financial transactions exceeding IDR 180 trillion (USD 11.5 billion). This study aimed to explore the reasons why Indonesians seek medical treatment overseas. A qualitative phenomenological approach was employed using in-depth interviews with Indonesian citizens who had received or were currently receiving medical treatment outside Indonesia. All interviews were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed through coding to identify themes, subthemes, and related properties. Interviews were conducted with 18 participants from three major Indonesian cities (Makassar, Surabaya, and Batam), as well as individuals receiving treatment in Singapore and Malaysia. …

Differences In Mental Toughness Among Mixed Martial Artists And Physically Active Individuals, Savannah M. Calleja, Soleil Ramos, Victoria Potvin, Anthony A. Ricci, Gabriel J. Sanders, Corey A. Peacock
Journal for Sports Neuroscience
Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a physiological and psychological demanding sport. While the majority of the literature conducted in MMA regards physiological health and risk of injury, researchers are beginning to assess the psychological profiles of MMA athletes. Previous studies have evaluated mental toughness (MT) within MMA; however, no study has examined MT in MMA athletes at the professional division. Therefore, the primary purpose of this research was to evaluate the difference in mental toughness between professional MMA athletes and physically active individuals. Secondary aims are to evaluate potential variations in mental toughness within the professional level between champion and …

This study aimed to examine the expression of follicle stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR) and luteinizing hormone receptor (LHR) in the testes of male fattening pigs based on the timing of the first immunocastration dose. A total of 24 male pigs were randomly assigned to 3 groups: C (n=8) consisted of only intact pigs, T1 (n=8) contained those immunocastrated at 15 and 19 weeks of age, and T2 (n=8) was composed of those immunocastrated at 9 and 19 weeks of age. The expression of FSHR and LHR was evaluated using H-score from immunohistochemistry and protein band intensity from Western blotting. Immunohistochemistry …

This fact sheet presents data on graduate medical education (GME) capacity and physician retention across five Mountain West states: Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah. Data are reported on the number of Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) granting institutions, teaching hospitals, residents in training, Medicare-supported GME slots, residents training in slots not supported by Medicare direct GME (DGME), and the percentage of physicians trained in each Mountain West state. The data are derived from the 2025 Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) report, “State-by-State Data on Graduate Medical Education,” which includes graduate medical education data …

The Impact Of Unilateral Versus Bilateral Ankle Bracing On Kinematics, Kinetics, And Performance In Volleyball Players, Stephen M. Boulanger, Derek M. R. Kivi, Carlos Zerpa, Paolo Sanzo
Topics in Exercise Science and Kinesiology
This study examined the effect of different types of ankle braces (Ankle Stabilizing Orthosis (ASO) vs. T2 Active Ankle(T2)) when worn unilaterally (UNI), bilaterally (BI), and with no brace worn (UB) on lower extremity kinematics and kinetics during a vertical jump and agility test. Twenty-two competitive volleyball players completed both a vertical jump test and agility T-test under five bracing conditions. Vertical jump height (VJH), ankle dorsiflexion (ADF), ankle plantarflexion (APF), knee flexion (KF), hip flexion (HF), vertical ground reaction force (vGRF), and vertical impulse were measured during the vertical jump test, while time to completion was measured for the …
