Developing A Speech Consciousness, Hazel Katherine Pritchard
Developing A Speech Consciousness, Hazel Katherine Pritchard
Bachelors’ Theses
An attempt to awaken an ideal in speech in the community is of vital importance. There is a need for intelligible, clear, forceful, speech with accuracy, precision, and delicacy, as outstanding characteristics. Proper provision should be made to remedy the present situation which fails to conform with this criterion. "Good speech ls universally recognized today as an economic, social, and cultural asset of the first rank. Yet in the United States the problem of defective speech grows daily more acute."
The Importance Of Asepsis In Root Canal Treatment And Filling, Raymond John Goral
The Importance Of Asepsis In Root Canal Treatment And Filling, Raymond John Goral
Bachelors’ Theses
“Today too many patients who brave the ordeal of having tee.th treated, later lose the teeth because of infection." This statement by Dr. Meisel of Pittsburgh before the Pennsylvania State Dental Society strikes at the cause of the failure of many root canals and their unpopularity among so many members of the dental profession. Sir William Osler said :-"Before antiseptic surgery, bacteria were more deadly than bullets." During the first week of April, 1927, the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Sir Joseph Lister, the father of antiseptic surgery was celebrated. Lister is credited with having saved, by his discoveries, …
The Present Status Of The Root Canal Treatment Controversy, B. V. Mukerji
The Present Status Of The Root Canal Treatment Controversy, B. V. Mukerji
Bachelors’ Theses
No phase of Dentistry has been so replete with controversy amongst the Scientists as the treatment of root canals. This subject has been the hunting ground of Bacteriologist’, Surgeons and Dentists, and there has been a conflict for the last hundred years and more between those who have regarded pulpless teeth as a menace to health, and those who believed that these should and could be treated safely. The evolution of this phase of Dentistry with the contribution and controversies associated there with will be dwelt upon in this paper.

Bovine Tuberculosis, L. Van Es
Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station: Historical Circulars
The development of the present-day knowledge of the tuberculoses of animals is so intimately associated with that pertaining to the human form of the disease that the latter needs to be included in the historical considerations, without which it would be difficult to view any phase of the subject in a comprehensive manner.

The Spleen Considered With Special Reference To It's Structure And Function, Peter B. Northouse
Bachelors’ Theses
This essay on the structure and function of the spleen is accompanied with a lengthy bibliography. The intention was to bring the completed bibliography up to date. Time, however, would not permit and furthermore, for the purpose of this paper, the bibliography is considered quite adequate. It represents all the, work that had been done for twenty-five years, from 1879 until 1905, in reference to the spleen.
The references in the main are from the Index Medicus. Complimentary references are from the Library of the Surgeon-General, The Quarterly Cumulative Index, and the current literature.
The bibliography brings out the point …

The Relationship Of The Training School To The Hospital, Mary Leona Le Frois
The Relationship Of The Training School To The Hospital, Mary Leona Le Frois
Bachelors’ Theses
The relationship of the training school to the hospital presents a problem which has ever been open for discussion to those interested in the development of hospital activities. The vital factor in the very existence of hospitals is, "How shall we take care of our patients?" for the patient is the all-important, central figure in every phase of our hospital work. The treatment received by patients individually and collectively, determines the value of a hospital as a social and scientific institution. Since the primary function, then, is to care for the sick who come for relief and cure from disease, …

Tuberculosis Of Swine, L. Van Es
Tuberculosis Of Swine, L. Van Es
Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station: Historical Circulars
The tuberculosis of swine constitutes a definite and very interesting section of the general problem of the tuberculoses of warm-blooded animals. No one section of this general tuberculosis problem can be adequately solved without regard to all the other sections into which it may be divided. The disease in swine is perhaps the most outstanding example which illustrates this point. This animal, extremely susceptible to tuberculous disease, but without a type of infection specifically its own, derives its infection by contact with any of the types of tuberculosis of warm-blooded animals.
