Background

In 2020, the global COVID-19 pandemic caused educational disruptions to many medical students nationally. Societal and hospital guidelines, including social distancing protocols, resulted in the cancellation or postponement of many elective procedures. A shortage in personal protective equipment also contributed to restrictions in clinical experiences for trainees. The purpose of this study was to determine resident-perceived preparedness in core clinical competencies and evaluate the disruptions to core clerkships.

Methods

A survey was developed to assess self-perceptions of clinical competencies and disruptions to core clerkship experiences. It was distributed to 63 incoming psychiatric residents who were matched to training programs …

Approximately 22 percent of the world population is estimated to be infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The largest number of cases are seen in Sub-Saharan Africa, India, and the islands of Southeast Asia, while North America and Western Europe are “low incidence” regions.¹ In the US, most cases are seen in foreign-born individuals who emigrate from high-incidence countries. Despite the low incidence in the US, prevention and control of Tuberculosis (TB) remain an important component of Public Health.² Here we present a case of a patient of Vietnamese origin with reactivation TB and rare manifestations of TB.

Acute liver injury may be very difficult to treat, especially when the etiology is unknown. We describe a case of a patient who presented with signs and symptoms of acute liver injury and went through an extensive work-up that did not reveal a definitive cause. The lack of diagnosis can be distressing for the patient, so it is important to regularly communicate the current plan and potential future necessary steps (such as a transplant surgery) to facilitate smooth, informed decision-making throughout the whole process.

Introduction: Given the uncertainties with IV iron therapy and potential risk of infection, there may be hesitation to treat hospitalized patients with bacterial infections with this preparation even if clinically indicated. This case report is the second known publication of a very specific collision tumor, where small cell lung cancer metastasized to an adrenal adenoma. The focus is primarily on multimodal radiologic findings of the developing neoplasm, including CT, MRI, and FDG PET/CT. These findings are compared with established diagnostic criteria for adrenal adenomas and metastases, as identified by the literature and content expert review. Background: Due to the global novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, many students in entry-level occupational therapy programs faced changes to their daily roles, habits, and routines. To understand beliefs about OT practitioner roles in a public health crisis, a cross-sectional study was designed to understand occupational therapy students (OTS) and occupational therapy assistant students (OTAS) volunteer activities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore the perceptions of Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) graduates' professional work readiness after using GoReact video assessment software at an accredited DPT education program in the United States.

This study aimed to explore knowledge of monkeypox and its transmission, intention to engage in self-protection, and factors predicting the intention to engage in self-protective behavior among Thai people.

This narrative review discusses the primary causes and subsequent management strategies for dysphagia in this population. Factors such as reduced laryngeal elevation, compromised hypopharyngeal and laryngeal sensations, impaired vocal cord function, loss of glottic airflow and subglottic pressure, weakened cough reflex, increased respiratory secretions, and disuse muscle atrophy have been identified as major contributors.
