Abstract

Aim: To compare the success rate regarding esthetics, parenteral satisfaction, and oral health related quality of life (OHRQoL) after treatment of early childhood caries with Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF)compared to conventional Glass ionomer Restoration (CGI).

Materials and Methods: We conducted a systematic review following PRISMA statement by searching on the following electronic databases: PubMed, Cochrane.

Results: From the studies included in this systematic review, two studies showed significant difference in color stability between SDF and CGI. Two studies showed no significant difference in parental satisfaction with either SDF or Glass Ionomer. Regarding the Oral Health Related Quality of Life, …

Challenges And Implications Of Mandated Reporting To Child Welfare In Dentistry, Katheryn Goldman Dmd, Mph, Phd, Daniel Pollack Msw, Jd

The New York State Dental Journal

Dentists are mandated reporters and are at the forefront of screening for child welfare referrals. The laws and systems surrounding reporting practice leave dentists working in pediatric settings with the responsibility of making a quick judgment about child maltreatment, with limited information, and sometimes limited training. Increased interdisciplinary collaboration and education on child welfare is necessary to better prepare and support dentists for practice with children who may present with suspected child maltreatment.

Aim of the Study: The aim of the current study was to investigate the effect of silver diamine fluoride on micro-tensile bond strength of composite to dentin and on the bonding mechanism of dentin surface on primary and permanent teeth. Material and methods: This study included two groups: group 1 included twenty-four primary molars and group 2 included twenty-four premolars. Each group was further subdivided equally into sub-group A and sub-group B. Sub-groups A of each group were treated with a self-etch bonding system and 4-mm thick buildups of composite were placed with increments limited to 1 mm. Subgroups B …

Introduction: The concept of oral health related quality of life (OHRQoL) is of great significance in the three areas of dental health, in particular the clinical practice of dentistry, research, and education. The reported prevalence of gingivitis in various developed countries is considered high. This rate escalates with the increase in age, especially around puberty. There is evidence that gingivitis is associated with the children’s OHRQoL as there are common risk factors between gingivitis’ of adolescence and their consequent OHRQoL.

Aim: This study aims to evaluate the correlation between gingival redness as evaluated by digital photographs and oral health related …

Introduction: Antimicrobial resistance is one of the ten threats identified by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2019, since it affects modern healthcare and the effective prevention and treatment of an ever-increasing range of infections. Recent estimates of the burden of antimicrobial resistance are very significant, with more than half a million cases of infection with selected antibiotic-resistant bacteria or new emerging resistant pathogens occurring in Europe; of note, data regarding antimicrobial resistance in low-income countries are largely unknown, increasing the overall risk of mortality, in particular in surgical procedures

Aim: The aim of the study was to evaluate the …

Dental caries is among the most-common childhood diseases around the world, and neglected caries can result in pain, infection, and can have a negative cascading impact on a child’s overall well-being. Definitive care of these lesions involves restorative procedures and/or extractions, but these treatment options require some level of child cooperation, which can sometimes be a challenge with very young children.

Silver diamine fluoride (SDF) is a non-invasive treatment intended to arrest the caries process. SDF is a liquid solution that contains a high concentration of silver and fluoride ions and has been used as an alternative agent for treating …

This study aimed to explore pediatric dentists' perspectives on obesity-related interventions for parents of young children. A web-based survey was administered to 210 American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry members. Findings revealed that respondents considered it important for various healthcare professionals, especially pediatricians and nurse practitioners, to engage in obesity-related parent education. Strong consensus existed on educating parents about the link between early childhood caries and diet, soft drink and fruit juice consumption, and healthy snacking. The study also found positive attitudes correlated with increased engagement in objective weight determination, data collection, and diet/nutrition counseling.
