Clastic Limestone In The Upper Eagle Ford Shale, Dallas County, Texas, William Thomas Reid Jun 1952

Clastic Limestone In The Upper Eagle Ford Shale, Dallas County, Texas, William Thomas Reid

Field and Laboratory

Flaggy strata of marine elastic limestone occur in the Eagle Ford shale at a horizon approximately 100 feet below the top of that formation in Dallas County. Anticipating the possible significance of these strata as marker beds useful in correlating the type section of the Eagle Ford here with sections exposed in other areas, a detailed description of them is given.

The Teaching Of Science, Sherwin Maeser

Faculty Honor Lectures

Like to teach! Whether with the expectant, half-frightened freshman, the senior, worried about his preparation now that . he must get out and meet competition, or the graduate student interested in new discoveries, I like to work with all of them.

I have been teaching a long time now. As has always been the case when one generation is thinking of turning over its work to the next, I am glad to have the opportunity to talk about some of the things that I consider important in this job of teaching.

The most varied and the most acute problems of …

The Uptake Of Iron By Bean Plants As Influenced By Age, And Calcium And Bicarbonate Ions In Solution Cultures, Michael Marcour May 1952

The Uptake Of Iron By Bean Plants As Influenced By Age, And Calcium And Bicarbonate Ions In Solution Cultures, Michael Marcour

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

Chlorosis of the foliage of higher plants has constituted a severe fertility problem in many areas of the world. It has been reported in no less than 30 countries. It has manifested itself in the western states and has usually been associated with a high CaCO3 content in the soil.

This chlorosis does not always result from lack or unavailability of one of the essential elements, but can result from several conditions around the plant roots or psychological processes taking place within the plant. Both the absence of iron in the Boil and conditions which provoke its unavailability to …

The Influence Of Single, Two, And Three Stage Bleaching On The Opacity Of Deinked Stock, Wilbur Kite Jun 1951

The Influence Of Single, Two, And Three Stage Bleaching On The Opacity Of Deinked Stock, Wilbur Kite

Paper Engineering Senior Theses

"Bleaching may be defined as the alteration of coloring matter in such fashion as to cause it to reflect more true white, or the solubilizing of such coloring matter to make it possible to wash out the color substance, or both." (2) The most common method of bleaching is the oxidation of the coloring substance although reduction with ZnS2O is sometimes used with ground-wood. This discussion will be limited to bleaching by means of oxidizing agents namely: chlorine and calcium hypochlorite.

Leaflet No 1000 - Rate Of Milking With Machines - Further Results From Western Australian Herds, R. A. Bettenay

Bulletins 1 - 2999

IN an earlier article by this Department (Vol. XXVI No. 2 PP. 99-104) some introductory remarks were made on a study being conducted on the rate of milking by machine, and preliminary findings were recorded. The conclusion was reached that the rate of milking on most farms was too slow, it being considered that in the vicinity of five minutes per cow should be sufficient under machine milking and that, if the teat cups were left on for a longer period than this, damage to the udder was likely to follow.

Rejection: Some Causes, Symptoms, And Treatment, H. E. Andren Jan 1949

Rejection: Some Causes, Symptoms, And Treatment, H. E. Andren

Medical Arts and Sciences: A Scientific Journal of the College of Medical Evangelists

One of the many causes of personality problems is the feeling of rejection. It may result in the individual's becoming hypersensitive, resentful, or demanding, particularly if this experience has occurred in the impressionable age of youth. It is my purpose in this paper to set forth some of the symptoms and responses that occur in the individual who has this feeling, and what avenues are open in the treatment of such maladjusted individuals.

Brief Short-Title List Of Published Works On The History Of Science, Samuel W. Geiser, Bessie T. Geiser Jun 1947

Brief Short-Title List Of Published Works On The History Of Science, Samuel W. Geiser, Bessie T. Geiser

Field and Laboratory

The present brief list was compiled primarily for the use of students in a course on the History of Science offered by the senior author at Southern Methodist University. It is far from complete: scholars conversant with the field will note omission of works they consider of primary importance, and the inclusion of others, to them of secondary interest. We are not sure that in every case our omissions and inclusions are fully defensible; but it is believed that this bibliography includes a very large proportion of the best works on the subject in hand.

A Comparative Study Of Directed Laboratory And Lecture Demonstration As Methods Of Instruction In Teaching Botany To High School Students, M. Lucida Vorndran Aug 1945

A Comparative Study Of Directed Laboratory And Lecture Demonstration As Methods Of Instruction In Teaching Botany To High School Students, M. Lucida Vorndran

Master's Theses or Doctor of Nursing Practice

A controlled investigation of green plants as the most important food factories of the world has been made in order to contribute more information upon the issue. Stated more specifically, the problems of this experimental study were the following: 1. To determine which of the two methods, if either, is superior as a procedure for learning. 2. To determine whether laboratory experiments are more effective than lecture-demonstration in training students to think clearly, to correlate and retain facts; and finally, to draw logical conclusions. 3. To determine, if possible, which method stimulated the greater amount of pupil interest.
