Genetics Of Mycangial Development And Host Colonization Within The Ambrosia Symbiosis, Mckeon James Laws
Genetics Of Mycangial Development And Host Colonization Within The Ambrosia Symbiosis, Mckeon James Laws
Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)
Ambrosia beetles, a polyphyletic group of weevils, utilize pouch-like structures at various locations on the body to transport for their sole food source, their fungal partner. Ambrosia fungi are known to originate from multiple unrelated fungal lineages with no consensus of traits required to become a fungal cultivar. While the biology and ecology of both partners is in many cases well understood, the genetic underpinnings of this fascinating mutualism remain a mystery. The aim of this dissertation is to add to the understanding of the ambrosia symbiosis by providing insights into its molecular and genetic underpinnings through RNA sequencing data, …

Serum Magnesium Level And Carotid Artery Calcification And Stiffness In Dialysis Patients: Single Center Cross-Sectional Study, Kareem Ahmed Elbosaty, Alaa Abd Elaziz Sabry, Gehad Ahmad Saleh, Nehal Atef Elshabrawy
Mansoura Medical Journal
Introduction Vascular calcification is common among end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients on regular dialysis, either hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis. Magnesium is suggested to play a role in inhibiting that process. Recently, Mg started to be considered one of the factors that protect against vascular calcification and consequently decrease CVD mortality rate in CKD patients. Many recent studies support that role although the mechanism of that protective effect is not clear. But it is supposed to be a combination of both passive and active mechanisms. The passive one occurs through interference with calcium phosphate deposition and hydroxyapatite inhibition by phosphate binding. …

Background: A deficiency of immunosuppressive regulatory T cells, as seen in scurfy (SF) mice or in IPEX syndrome in humans, can lead to multiorgan inflammation. Oral administration of the probiotic Limosilactobacillus reuteri Deutsche Sammlung von Mikroorganismen und Zellkulturen GmbH (DSM) 17938 prolongs survival and reduces Th1- and Th2-associated inflammation in SF mice. It remains unclear how DSM 17938-educated SF-CD4+ T cells modulate T-cell-liver communication.
Methods: To characterize CD4+ T cells from SF mice orally administered DSM 17938 (Prob-SF-CD4+ T cells) and to compare them with CD4+ T cells from SF mice (SF-CD4+ T cells), cells isolated from SF spleens were …
