Archives and libraries hold significant collections of historic aerial imagery; improvements in geographic information system (GIS) technology and computer vision, a field of artificial intelligence, are dramatically expanding their research potential. This case study describes the activities of the University of Montana’s Archives and Special Collections to facilitate access to a collection of 1930s aerial images, outlines the rationale for investing time and effort in the project and offers considerations for other repositories with historic aerial photography collections. At University of San Francisco’s Gleeson Library, LibGuides functions as the primary platform for our main website as well as for research guides. Managing both types of content in the same way led to familiar CMS governance challenges: inconsistent structure, design drift, unclear responsibility for maintenance, and blurred distinctions between core website content and research guides. To address this, we undertook a collaborative UX and systems-led process to develop and implement a web governance framework and accompanying design system. Bibliometrics has become an increasingly important metric type for negotiating and assessing transformative agreements, particularly corresponding author data. This case study from the University of San Diego compares OpenAlex, Web of Science, and publisher-provided data using real examples of publication data for TA assessment. Even at a mid-sized institution such as USD, the accuracy and completeness of publication information differs between data sources and brings into question ongoing issues with disambiguation and institution affiliation.

Purpose: This study explores how middle-grade girls from predominantly underrepresented and underserved racially and ethnically minoritized (UUREM) backgrounds developed critical data literacy (CDL) through participation in a week-long residential STEM camp. Given the increasing importance of data science education in a data-driven world, this research examines how informal learning environments can support CDL development among youth from historically marginalized groups.

Design/Methodology/Approach: The study draws on qualitative interview data from eleven participants, and their group-produced artifacts to investigate how the camp experience supported engagement with data and the development of CDL. Purpose Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology provides academic libraries with an opportunity to improve users’ experience. However, the application of AI in academic libraries in low- and middle-income countries is yet to be established. Thus, this scoping review aims to assess the extent of AI utilisation in academic libraries in low- and middle-income countries.

Graduate students often need support with research skills and other professional development that is under-recognized by their programs. Librarians play a key role in helping students fill in these gaps. This case study reviews student feedback on a librarian-developed and -delivered credit-bearing course. The course, Library Research and Scholarly Communication Fundamentals, is offered to graduate students across all disciplines. The curriculum is flexible and applicable to each student’s research, covering topics such as researching literature, citation and data management, and publishing in scholarly journals. This foreword opens an anthology that explores research and experiences at the intersection of Palestine and libraries. Part one examines how Palestinian librarians, archivists, and individuals resist erasure by preserving Palestinian materials and narratives and by ensuring Palestinians’ access to library resources amidst recurring cycles of destruction and confiscation. Part two explores how librarians in the United States respond to pressure from right-wing and pro-Israel advocacy groups that are quick to label any effort to include Palestinians and their histories as antisemitic.

Background Mentorship of new faculty helps to reduce the challenges associated with their new roles, as some lack knowledge of teaching pedagogies. This study assessed the mentorship experiences regarding practices and perceptions of new nursing and midwifery faculty at the Aga Khan University School of Nursing and Midwifery (SONAM) in Uganda.

Methodology This study used a phenomenological design. Data were collected in semistructured interviews with 11 participants, and data saturation was reached. Data were organized with NVivo 12 Pro and analyzed using framework analysis.

Findings The main themes that emerged were mentorship practices, perceptions about mentorship, and proposed mentorship guidelines. …
