Exploring The Information Needs Of Student Entrepreneurs: A Meta-Narrative Synthesis, Grace Liu

Drawing upon Wilson’s framework on information needs and user studies, this article investigated student entrepreneurs’ demographics, characteristics, and their fundamental cognitive, affective, and resource needs. Through a meta-narrative synthesis of 15 empirical studies and other related research, this article developed a non-exhaustive taxonomy of 60 information need topics, which hopefully would lead student entrepreneurs to success through (1) enhancing business knowledge and evidence-based decisions, (2) cultivating affective learning and personal growth, and (3) securing diversified support networks and social capital. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the role ICTs can play in repackaging of indigenous knowledge. An exploratory approach through extensive review of related literature was adopted for this study. Conceptual framework was developed to understand indigenous knowledge and the ways it can be documented and communicated by packaging and repackaging it for preservation and consequent dissemination from generation to generation. Instructional Design With The Ice Approach In Academic Libraries: A Framework That Integrates Assessing, Learning, And Teaching, Junli Diao

One-shot instruction in academic libraries is a librarian-controlled bibliographic instruction that responds to the point of information need for subject-related courses. The assessment of teaching effectiveness tends to take a summative approach, which provides an answer to what students learned but does not address how they learned. This column theoretically explores the framework of Ideas-Connections-Extensions (ICE) in library instruction and the classroom setting, which demonstrates learning outcomes and explores the learning journey, and integrates assessment, learning, and teaching through collaborative efforts by academic librarians and classroom faculty.

Communications in Information Literacy

While several studies explore whether librarians think of themselves as teachers, how librarians construct their teacher identities has received less attention in the literature. This project used semi-structured interviews with eighteen academic librarians in the United States to gain a sense of their teaching personas and how these have developed and evolved over time. The participants valued authenticity but were also able to quickly adapt their personas to different contexts. Librarians wish to be seen as friendly experts and develop their values-based teaching personas slowly over the course of their careers. The results of this study can help shape professional …

The main objective of this research is to inspect the classroom environment, student learning, interactive learning, class participation, higher education institutions using bibliometric analysis from 2001 to 2020. For the scientometric analysis, we extracted data from the Science Citation Index database, Web of Science (Core Collection) using a searched query. The data was extracted on February 27, 2021 (GMT-4:29 AM). Further, the period was 2001 to 2020. There were 6340 published documents were found. This article introduces The Suffrage Postcard Project (SPP), a feminist digital humanities project that utilizes digital tools to explore how transatlantic suffrage postcards and feminist digital humanities practices engender new historical narratives of the suffrage movement, especially in the United States and Britain. This article uses our Omeka-based digital archive of suffrage postcards to discuss the history of the postcard, the significance of a postcard archive to digital archival studies, and the significance of the digital postcard archive to digital history.

This poster discusses approaches to ensure that adjunct placements leverage the temporary placement to the benefit of both adjunct librarians and institutions. Librarians can leverage short-term employment to develop skills and gain experience in new library environments. Libraries maintain services while seeking longterm solutions and progress on key projects leveraging skill areas supporting adjunct librarians’ professional development. Clear career goals, intentional supervision, and guidance on translating experience to future job applications can ground an adjunct appointment in mutually-beneficial principles.

In this dissertation I look at the high failure rates of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&As) and why there has been no discernible change in outcomes over the last several decades. Although we have greater access to data, sophisticated business intelligence (BI) and data analytics (DA) tools, and work by industry professionals and academics to improve the process, high failure rates have persisted. I explore the possibility that the representativeness heuristic could play a role, and specifically, the possibility that prior probabilities are being ignored in M&A evaluations. The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

Purpose: This qualitative study explores how discursive power shapes South Carolina LGBTQIA+ communities' health information practices and how participants resist this power. Design/methodology/approach: Twenty-eight LGBTQIA+ community leaders from South Carolina engaged in semi-structured interviews and information worlds mapping – a participatory arts-based elicitation technique – to capture the context underlying how they and their communities create, seek, use, and share health information. We focus on the information worlds maps for this paper, employing situational analysis – a discourse analytic method for visual data – to analyze them. This study examined the concepts and aspects of digitization; digital preservation; digital resources; and access to, use of, and challenges posed by electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs) in university libraries in six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. It adopted a documentary research approach to highlight a critical examination of the various aspects of digitization (to provide electronic information services) as practiced by various university libraries and some library schools in Nigeria. This article explores the move of the Central Washington University Archives and Special Collections (CWUASC) to a new location from the fourth floor to the second floor of the James E. Brooks Library in 2018. The history of the CWUASC, reasons for the move, the planning and designing of the new space, the actual move of the collection by the archives staff, lessons learned, and the impact of the move in reaching a larger audience of faculty, staff, students, and the general public are described. A review of literature on other moves of archives and special collections is also provided.

The use and development of oral history programs has become a popular way for archives to document events and communities, either as a supplement to traditional records or as discrete collections. In particular, projects that focus on involving groups traditionally underrepresented within the archival record are becoming increasingly common in both large institutions and small community archives. This article presents three case studies of oral history projects dedicated to forging ties in the community and increasing diversity in their collections. Over the past several years, special collections libraries and archives have been more proactive in engaging in educational outreach and promoting forward-facing programs. Additionally, subject and special collections librarians have sought ways to expand their collaboration to maximize their reach and impact. The occasion of the 200th anniversary of Walt Whitman’s birth was the perfect opportunity for two librarians at Binghamton University to collaborate, promote a jewel from the Libraries’ holdings, build a stronger collection, and interact with local audiences through an exhibit and events.
