Louisiana Academic Library Workers And Workplace Bullying, Catherine Baird, Andrea Hebert, Justin Savage

University Libraries Scholarship and Creative Works

Workplace bullying is a problem in many work environments and can take different forms, including spreading gossip, criticism of work, unreasonable workloads, and being excluded. It can cause physical, psychological, and emotional stress, manifesting as depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, exhaustion, feelings of rage/despair, and in some cases, post-traumatic stress disorder or suicide. Little is known, however, about the prevalence of bullying amongst library workers in academic libraries. This comprehensive state-wide study provides a replicable model to explore workplace bullying in a systematic manner amongst all academic library workers, not just librarians.

The inventory contains subscales on beliefs on problem solving competency, fascination in design, value of CS, creative expression, and beliefs about context-specific CS abilities alongside programming mindsets and outcomes. We explain the creation of the instrument and attend to the role of mindsets …

Open Science Etds And Institutional Repositories: Making Research Data Fairer, Andrew Mckenna-Foster, Maria Cotera, Mark Hahnel

The Journal of Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Graduate students, as potential future full-time researchers, are a population that should show proficiency in data sharing. Though there are many resources that teach data sharing best practices for students, it is difficult to tell how well students do when sharing their data. We compared the FAIRness of non-traditional research output metadata associated with theses and dissertations for records shared in a generalist repository by individual students, and records shared through an institutional repository using the same repository platform. Those shared in an institutional repository were significantly FAIRer, as measured by metadata richness and interoperability, and had higher views per …

Although there have been recent improvements, the reality in underdeveloped countries like Nigeria has not been positive. The results of this study showed that librarians' use of ICTs for providing information services was significantly influenced by their attitude toward technology. However, when they have a negative attitude, they may leave the available ICTs for information service delivery unused or misused. The extent to which librarians use ICTs can be greatly increased …

Thus, additional qualitative insights are necessary. Hence, …
