The Public Interest Concept In Law And In Economics, Robert W. Harbeson
The Public Interest Concept In Law And In Economics, Robert W. Harbeson
Michigan Law Review
It is an interesting and perhaps important coincidence that only a year previous to the famous decision in Nebbia v. New York there appeared two volumes which together constitute an equally notable landmark in the development of economic doctrine, Professor Edward Chamberlin's Theory of Monopolistic Competition and Mrs. Joan Robinson's Economics of Imperfect Competition. While there is no evidence that the latter works influenced the outcome of the Nebbia case, the writer is of the opinion that these studies not only afford a rationale of that decision but also make desirable a re-examination of the concept of "businesses affected …

Labor Law - When A "Labor Dispute" Exists Within Meaning Of The Norris-Laguardia Act, Erwin B. Ellmann
Labor Law - When A "Labor Dispute" Exists Within Meaning Of The Norris-Laguardia Act, Erwin B. Ellmann
Michigan Law Review
Two recent Supreme Court decisions, interpreting the Norris-LaGuardia Act at its most troublesome area, confirm the Congressional revision of the rules governing scrimmages between capital and labor in the federal courts. In holding in Lauf v. Shinner that the struggle by an outside union for unionization of a shop, none of whose employees were affiliated with the organizing union, and in New Negro Alliance v. Sanitary Grocery Co. that agitation by members of a negro racial protective organization to compel employment of negro workers were "labor disputes" within the meaning of section 13, the Supreme Court has substantially put to …
The Lookout: The Lookout Reports That These Questions Are Now Before The Supreme Court, Anon
The Lookout: The Lookout Reports That These Questions Are Now Before The Supreme Court, Anon
Washington Law Review
The Journal expects to establish "The Lookout" as a regular department to keep the Bar advised as to interesting and important questions pending in the Supreme Court of this state. The information is not furnished by the Court but is compiled from the briefs now on file with the clerk. The Journal suggests that attorneys desiring more complete information should communicate with counsel. This does not purport to be a complete survey of all questions now pending, but if the Bar evidences sufficient interest in this service it will be extended to include, as far as possible, all questions pending …

Methods Of Wage Policy I, Max Rheinstein
Methods Of Wage Policy I, Max Rheinstein
Articles
Social science has a threefold task: first, that of describing the phenomena of social life; second, that of classifying and arranging these phenomena in a systematic order; and, finally, that of investigating regularities of relations between social phenomena in the order of cause and effect. Wages and governmental efforts to influence their level are social phenomena. In the following article an attempt will be made to classify various methods of governmental wage policy under certain type situations and to arrange these type situations in a systematic order. It is hoped that such an arrangement may be helpful in the way …
Bankruptcy - Corporate Reorganization - Approval Of Plan Of Bondholders' Committee In Foreclosure Proceeding In A State Court, Malcolm L. Denise
Bankruptcy - Corporate Reorganization - Approval Of Plan Of Bondholders' Committee In Foreclosure Proceeding In A State Court, Malcolm L. Denise
Michigan Law Review
The question of a state court's jurisdiction to pass on the fairness of a reorganization plan in connection with proceedings to foreclose a trust mortgage and sell the corporate property has been considered in but a surprisingly small number of cases. It would seem that this is a possibility the existence of which reorganization committees and dissenting bondholders have only begun to realize. In the recent case of First National Bank of Chicago v. Bryn Mawr, Beach Bldg. Corp., the trustee under a trust mortgage instituted foreclosure proceedings, and a committee representing a majority of the bondholders purchased at …
