This report, dated February 16, 1956, from the United States (US) Senate Committee on the Judiciary is a detailed report on what the committee identifies as the “special problem” of juvenile delinquency among Indigenous children. The report aims to identify what contributes to delinquency, what can be done to correct it, what legislative or administrative changes could improve it, and how can the public be better informed about it. The report summarizes several hearings that were held with different tribes, including tribes inhabiting North Dakota and Minnesota; the report also includes comparative studies, statements, speeches, statistics, and reports on different …

International Law - United Nations - Administrative Tribunals As Adjudicators Of Disputes Arising Out Of Employment Contracts With International Organizations, Edward W. Powers S.Ed.
Michigan Law Review
A crucial though relatively unpublicized problem arising from the creation of international organizations is that of establishing and maintaining the staff or secretariat needed to perform the administrative functions of these organizations. Such a staff must possess not only the competence and integrity of a national civil service, but also an international loyalty or outlook which includes " ... an awareness . . . of the needs, emotions, and prejudices of the peoples of differently-circumstanced countries ... [and] a capacity for weighing these frequently imponderable elements in a judicial manner· before reaching any decision to which they are relevant."

Tax Aspects Of Corporate Business Purchase Agreements Funded With Life Insurance, Hugh J. Morgan Jr.
Vanderbilt Law Review
Death to a member of a closely held business usually will seriously disrupt the workings of the business organization. Also, the estate of the decedent may find his business interest an unwanted asset. A valuable business interest often must be sacrificed because of the pressing need for cash to pay debts, administrative expenses, and estate and inheritance taxes. Thus, death may place the continued existence of the business in jeopardy, make uncertain the interest of decedent's surviving business associates, and make necessary a forced liquidation of decedent's interest in the business at a sacrifice price. Consequently,a business man may find …

Workshops On Legal Problems Of Atomic Energy, University Of Michigan Law School
Summer Institute on International and Comparative Law
In 1952 the University of Michigan Law School, as a part of its summer session program, offered an Institute entitled "Industrial and Legal Problems of Atomic Energy. " The 1946 Atomic Energy Act, creating a virtually complete government monopoly, was then in effect, and private development of peaceful uses of atomic energy was for the most part merely a gleam in the eyes of a few forward-looking individuals. The 1952 Institute was devoted to the task of obtaining a preview of atomic affairs to come. The speakers on the program could do no more than look forward and speculate on …
