A Paradigm Shift In Legal Education: Preparing Law Students For The Twenty-First Century: Teaching Foreign Law, Culture, And Legal Language Of The Major U.S. American Trading Partners, Gloria M. Sanchez
San Diego Law Review
Globalization of the world markets is the impetus behind this Article's call to law schools to include elective courses in transnational practice. Based on the denationalization of markets, laws and politics, the author argues that law schools should provide specialized courses in foreign law, taught in their domestic language, so that students are trained in the basic legal structures of other nations. Because of the creation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) the author recommends courses in Mexican law, culture, and Spanish legal language in U.S. law schools. The author also explains why understanding law in the context …

Translated Opinions
Facts: The Minister of Transportation, assuming the powers of the Traffic Controller, ordered the closure of Bar-Ilan Street in Jerusalem to motor traffic on Sabbaths and Jewish holidays during hours of prayer. Petitioners are secular residents of the area and representatives of the secular population in Jerusalem, who claim that the decision of the Minister infringes their right to freedom of movement. One petitioner—the Association for the Rights of the Religious Community in Israel—counter-petitioned that Bar-Ilan should be closed to motor traffic for all hours on the Sabbath and Jewish holidays.
Held: The Court held that the Traffic Controller was …

New Developments In Environmental Law And Policy In Taiwan, Dennis Te-Chung Tang
Washington International Law Journal
This article provides a critical review of the important developments of the environmental laws and policies of the Republic of China on Taiwan since 1993. The article also supplements the author's 1990 and 1993 publications. Section II briefs the reader on background political and economic changes. Section III analyzes three new environmental statutes, including the Environmental Impact Assessment Act of 1994. Back To The Past: Anti- Pragmatism In American Conflicts Law, Patrick J. Borchers
Mercer Law Review
I am grateful to the editors of the Mercer Law Reuiew for the opportunity to comment upon the symposium honoring Brainerd Currie. As one would expect given the fine panel assembled, the discussions were lively, well-informed, thoughtful, and thought-provoking. And, of course, it is well to honor Currie, who was perhaps the father-at the very least the midwife-of the conflicts revolution.
There is no denying that Currie's "interest" vocabulary helped American courts escape the grip of the place-of-the-injury rule in tort conflict cases. His tripartite division between true conflicts, false conflicts, and unprovided-for cases is orthodoxy to most American conflicts …

My first introduction to Denise Gray was through a form. The intake sheet was dated October 17, 1994. The legal problem was straightforward. My introduction to Denise Gray would come much later. I am a clinical law professor. The clinic, Boston College Legal Assistance Bureau, is known as "LAB." I teach students law by supervising them as they represent, usually for the first time, a real person with real problems.

UIC John Marshall Journal of Information Technology & Privacy Law
As the Internet expands, educational institutions have become interested in the medium for the purpose of expanding learning opportunities. Information that may be objectionable to some members of the community, however, would then be available to children in schools with Internet access. Attempts to regulate the content of the Internet have yet to pass a First Amendment challenge. Concern over what children will be exposed to when the Internet is introduced in the classroom is currently being addressed by educators and legislators alike. The Communications Decency Act was the first to attempt to address the issue of Internet access in …
