As part of a Howard Hughes Program for Innovation in Science Education grant at Iowa State University, a series of interdisciplinary graduate teaching assistant learning communities (TALC) were developed. The purpose of these communities was to create an environment to facilitate teaching assistants' pedagogical development and training to enhance the implementation of inquiry experiences in the undergraduate laboratories. The TALC evaluated in this study were held for two consecutive semesters and included teaching assistants who facilitated multi-week course-based research experiences in their respective STEM courses. An Exploratory Investigation Of The Relationship Between Ptsd Symptoms And Substance Abuse In Undergraduate College Students, Melissa Buscemi
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this exploratory study was to determine a significant correlation between post-traumatic stress (PTSD) symptoms and substance use in undergraduate college students. A review of the existing literature was examined and showed a significant correlation between PTSD and substance use, including alcohol, marijuana and other drugs. Literature also showed correlations between PTSD and cigarette use in undergraduate college students. A PTSD questionnaire was conducted based on DSM-5 criteria scale. A personal Experience Screening questionnaire for adults (PESQ-A) was also used to examine the frequency and degree of substances used by participants. The ownership of copyrights in a faculty member’s copyrighted works has been a source of tension between labor and management for many years, affecting content created for the classroom, for scholarship, and for creative endeavors. Ownership of on-line learning content adds to these tensions and presents a number of important labor-management and pedagogical issues. The legal default rules of copyright provide the starting point for negotiations between labor and management. This panel will explore whether the institution or the faculty member owns the intellectual property associated with on-line learning, course content, and other works.
