Technical science and innovation

This article presents the physical principles of Atmospheric Water Harvesting (AWH) technologies, including spectral radiation balance, air-sorbent interactions, thermodynamic constraints, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling approaches. The study provides models of water condensation, adsorption-desorption processes, and energy consumption. In addition, a detailed thermodynamic analysis was carried out to determine the partial vapor pressure, cooling demand, and theoretical energy limits of water extraction. The adsorption process is described using Langmuir isotherms, while desorption is represented through a kinetic model dependent on activation energy. To analyze the coupled processes of airflow, mass transfer, and heat transport, CFD models based on the …

Mansoura Engineering Journal

This study introduces an operational evaluation of a deep learning–driven ionospheric modeling system tailored for Egypt, designed to overcome the limitations of conventional empirical approaches in data-sparse regions. The 3D-DNN Ion-EG model was trained on 737,110 COSMIC-2 radio occultation profiles (2020–2024), integrating spatial temporal coordinates with geophysical drivers to generate high-resolution threedimensional electron density distributions. Validation against the MANS CORS station (Mansoura University) demonstrated strong predictive skill (R2 = 0.9337; r = 0.970) under independent testing. Performance analysis across diverse geophysical regimes confirmed the model’s advantage in capturing storm-time and solar-driven disturbances, surpassing empirical models that perform best only under …

Electrochemical processes lie at the core of biological function, governing energy transduction, metabolic flux, and molecular signaling. Recent advances in electrochemical science now allow these processes to be probed and controlled with unprecedented spatial, temporal, and chemical resolution. In this review, we present an integrated framework that progresses from fundamental mechanisms to analytical technologies and functional modulation. We begin by outlining electron transfer pathways in mitochondrial respiration, microbial extracellular electron transfer, and DNA- and protein-based charge conduction, followed by the principles of photon-electron conversion in photosynthesis and the central role of redox equilibrium in coordinating cellular responses. We then highlight …

Empirical Analysis Of Machine Learning Models For Predicting Equipment Failures Using Iot Sensor Data, Yusuf Shodiyevich Avazov Dec 2025

Empirical Analysis Of Machine Learning Models For Predicting Equipment Failures Using Iot Sensor Data, Yusuf Shodiyevich Avazov

Chemical Technology, Control and Management

This article examines the problem of detecting and predicting industrial equipment faults using IoT sensor data through machine learning techniques. Sensor readings such as temperature, vibration, pressure, voltage, and current, as well as FFT-based features, were statistically analyzed. Class imbalance and low signal informativeness were identified as key factors limiting model accuracy. Results obtained from Logistic Regression, Random Forest, and XGBoost models were comparatively evaluated, showing that when ROC-AUC values remain around 0.5, distinguishing fault and non-fault states becomes challenging. Correlation and feature-importance analyses confirmed the absence of strong dominant indicators. The findings highlight the need to improve sensor architecture …

Virtual Process Modeling Of Metal Additive Manufacturing Basedon Direct Energy Deposition In-Situ Failure, Jachin J. Ramirez Dec 2025

Virtual Process Modeling Of Metal Additive Manufacturing Basedon Direct Energy Deposition In-Situ Failure, Jachin J. Ramirez

2025 Fall Honors Capstones Projects - Archive

This study builds a mesoscale finite element simulation to examine how internal stresses form during additive metal manufacturing using directed energy deposition. The goal is to track how heat and stress develop layer by layer and determine where a failure criterion could appear during the print. The model uses temperature-dependent material properties for Inconel 718 and a moving heat source defined with custom G-code.

Thermal results are mapped into a mechanical simulation to watch stress accumulate as new layers are added. Different scan paths were tested to determine whether varying heat exposure could reduce the extent of a region exceeding …

Intelligent Extensible Markup Language Encryption Using Type-2 Fuzzy Logic, Faiez Musa Lahmood Alrufaye, Seham Ahmed Hashem

Journal of Soft Computing and Computer Applications

Financial and commercial institutions increasingly rely on Extensible Markup Language (XML) files as a standard means of exchanging data. However, this extensive use has created serious security challenges due to the fact that these files contain sensitive information such as bank card numbers and expiration dates. Relying on traditional full file encryption methods achieves a high degree of security, but it causes problems related to the large file sizes that consume memory and the long encryption and decryption times, which reduces the efficiency of systems when dealing with a large number of daily transactions. Methods based on Type-1 Fuzzy Logic …

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

This work discusses about the topic as the two-way communication retrial inventory queue model, the (s, S) replenishment policy, immediate feedback, Bernoulli vacations, and impatient customers. The assumption we make is that arrivals follow a Markovian arrival process, and the server provides phase type services. When the server is idle and there is a positive inventory, an arriving customer immediately receives service. If not, arriving customers goes to orbit with infinite capacity. Only in the account of positive inventory the server renders rapid feedback for incoming call arrivals, otherwise customer departs. Outgoing calls will only be made by the server …

Numerical Simulations Of Ship Liquid Tank Sloshing Based On Graph Neural Networks, Wenkang Zhang, Xiaofeng Sun, Yiping Zhong, Yong Yin

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: To address the high consumption of computational resources in simulating ship liquid tank sloshing using computational fluid dynamics simulation methods, a data-driven numerical simulation model was proposed based on graph neural networks. An encoder-processor-decoder framework was employed in the proposed model. The encoder extracted features of fluid particles from the first five time steps. The processor learnt latent motion patterns of fluid and updated features, and the decoder predicted features of particles at subsequent time steps. The processor incorporated a self-attention mechanism to enable dynamic adjacency weight allocation and emphasize the influence of irregular tank wall regions. Training …
