Behavior Change Through Training, Robert Walter Messerschmidt May 1960

Behavior Change Through Training, Robert Walter Messerschmidt

Theses

This thesis represents an investigation of attitude and behavior change as a result of human relations training, The elements of heredity and environment are proffered as a basis for attitude and behavior formation. It is denoted that these elements are also instrumental in subsequent development of adult behavior.

As noted in the literature, the term "individual differences" embodies the effect of virtually unique heredity and environmental conditions to which each person is exposed. These differences are also partly determined by the growth in developmental trends, which varies from individual to individual and from time to time.

The existence of individual …

Shearing Shed Design, W L. Mcgarry, D. A. Young, M. Butler Jan 1960

Shearing Shed Design, W L. Mcgarry, D. A. Young, M. Butler

Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4

PLANNING the layout of a shearing shed requires a good deal of thought to ensure its maximum working efficiency.

If the contemplated structure is to serve the dual purpose of storage-shearing shed, it is better to plan a shearing shed that can be used for storage, rather than a storage shed with a view to its utilisation as a shearing shed.

Help Those Lambs To Live, C J. Spencer Jan 1960

Help Those Lambs To Live, C J. Spencer

Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4

IN almost all breeding flocks the most serious stage of sheep loss is from birth to three days of age with the majority of these losses occurring at birth or during the first day.

The number of lambs lost at this time is rarely known, but survey work shows that on most properties ten to twenty of every hundred lambs born are dead before three days of age.

The economic importance of such losses cannot be emphasised too much. Money has been expended for rams as sires, while the ewes have received extra feed and have had their wool production …

Department Of Agriculture Moved To South Perth, Department Of Agriculture, Western Australia

Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4

After more than half a century in the historic but time-worn building, one of few adorned with the British Government crest of the Lion and the Unicorn, on the Eastern side of government gardens in St George's Terrace, the Departmnet of Agriculture has been transfred to a new location in South Perth.

Termites Or White Ants, Clee Francis Howard Jenkins Jan 1960

Termites Or White Ants, Clee Francis Howard Jenkins

Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4

TERMITES are commonly but erroneously called "white ants."

Actually they are more nearly related to cockroaches than to ants, but their general appearance and subterranean habits have given strong support to the popular designation.

They may be divided into two major groups from an economic point of view, viz., wood-dwelling and earth-dwelling termites.

The Separation Of Selected Radioactive Fission Products By Electrodialysis, Jerry David Vie Jan 1960

The Separation Of Selected Radioactive Fission Products By Electrodialysis, Jerry David Vie

Masters Theses

"The recent advent of nuclear energy has opened an era of almost unlimited power and countless problems. A problem of extreme importance is the recovery of unburned nuclear fuel and the claiming of transmutation products, such as Pu239 and U233, from the irradiated fuel elements. The chemical processing must also separate the fission products from the fissionable material if the fuel is to be used again.

At present, the irradiated fuel elements are stored for 90 to 120 days to allow the intense short half-life activity to decay. After "cooling down", the nuclear fuels are separated from …

Hold On To Your Egg Profits, J A. Hoy Jan 1960

Hold On To Your Egg Profits, J A. Hoy

Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4

IN recent years, much sound advice has been made available to poultry farmers to assist them in developing their properties and operating them on profitable lines.

Much of this advice has been utilised to good advantage, but there are still many properties on which the profits are being reduced by feed wastage, damage by rats and mice, lack of sufficient attention to egg quality, unnecessarily high labour costs and failure to keep farm records.

Australian Tractor Tests : No. 31, G. H. Vasey, W. F. Baillie

Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4

THIS Report is taken from the full Technical Report No. 31 of this test; test results are shown here in briefer form: fuller explanations are added. Values quoted may be rounded out to two instead of three significant figures; to this extent the values may differ slightly but not significantly from those shown in the Technical Report. Graphs of belt test performance, shown in the Technical Report, are not shown here.

Special Text, St 10-120-1, Quartermaster Intelligence: Organization And Procedures, December 1959, Robert Bolin , Depositor

United States Department of Defense Military Intelligence

This is a textbook used at the Army Quartermaster School. In the 1950s, military schools related to one of the Army Technical Services were run by that service. Since the format and content of Army field manuals were often very similar to those of special texts, the same staffs often prepared both

Shortly before World War II, Army Technical Services had been instructed to set up intelligence sections in the offices of their chiefs. The technical services were bureaus which supplied weapons, equipment, and services to …

Separation And Concentration Of Stibiconite, William Howard Painter May 1959

Separation And Concentration Of Stibiconite, William Howard Painter

Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970

Primarily, the purpose of this study is to separate stibiconite from associated gangue minerals. The ore containing antimony, as an oxide stibiconite, occurs in Mexico and its benefication would be an advantage to the mineral resources of that country. While the deposit from which this ore is derived is American owned, the resource is presently non-economic. A concentrate must be derived of suitable grade for its use in a smelting operation and from which metallic antimony would be produced.

Field Application Of The Membrane Filter Method For Bacteriological Quality Determination Of Water, Charles Liston Gambill Jan 1959

Field Application Of The Membrane Filter Method For Bacteriological Quality Determination Of Water, Charles Liston Gambill

Masters Theses

"The purpose of this thesis is to demonstrate the definite advantages to be realized when using the membrane filter method as an accepted procedure for the bacteriological analysis of a water; and specifically when used under emergency or field conditions such as military units in the field. These same advantages would apply to Civil Defense and other such agencies when operating under emergency or field conditions.

Data from actual tests showing techniques, equipment and procedures used and augmented by other data available from research papers will be utilized"--Introduction, page 2.

Bonded Joint Strength Versus Loading Rate, Charless William Fowlkes Jan 1959

Bonded Joint Strength Versus Loading Rate, Charless William Fowlkes

Masters Theses

"The purpose of this investigation was to determine the influence of the rate of loading variable on the apparent shear strengths of joints bonded with some of the currently available metal-to-metal adhesives. The effects of this variable are sometimes neglected by testing laboratories. The results of an experimental evaluation of the mechanical behavior of a group on modern metal-to-metal adhesives as a function of the rate of load application are used to more accurately establish the importance of rate of load considerations in adhesive joint testing. An attempt is made to explain observations of other investigators engaged in adhesive joint …

Fm 3-130, U.S. Army Chemical, Biological And Radiological (Cbr) Intelligence, 1958, Robert Bolin , Depositor

United States Department of Defense Military Intelligence

An appropriate alternative title for this manual would be “Chemical Corps Intelligence.” When this manual was issued the Chemical Corps was a bureau in the Headquarters, Department of the Army, headed by a general officer called the Chief Chemical Officer (CCO), as well as a branch of the army to which officers and enlisted men were appointed. Among the duties of the CCO were the development and supply of chemical, biological, and radiological (CBR) weapons and equipment, the training of chemical units for service in the field, management of the careers of officers in the Chemical Corps branch, and the …
