The Effect Of Electrode Geometry On Excited Species Production In Atmospheric Pressure Air-Hydrogen Streamer Discharge, Shirshak Kumar Dhali, Stuart Reyes
Electrical & Computer Engineering Faculty Publications
When a gas is overvolted at or near atmospheric pressure, it results in a streamer discharge formation. Electrode geometries exert significant impact on the electrical breakdown of gases by altering the spatial profile of the electric field. In many applications the efficient generation of radicals is critical and is determined by the characteristics of the streamer discharge. We examine the effect of electrode geometry on the streamer characteristics and the production of radicals. This is performed for three different electrode geometries: plane–plane, pin–plane, and pin–pin. A two-dimensional rotationally symmetric fluid model is used for the streamer discharge simulation in the …

Design Of An Active-Control Pressure Regulator For A Rocket, Seth Arkwright
Williams Honors College, Honors Research Projects
An electronically actuated pressure-regulation valve and controller are necessary for maintaining pressure levels in a pressure-fed liquid-fueled rocket engine. Mechanical regulators are too heavy and have unacceptably high-pressure variation throughout the operation of a dynamic system like a rocket. Developing an electronic pressure regulator using a PID controller is a method by which a reliable, accurate, and lightweight flow regulator can be built for use on a rocket vehicle. This work will outline the development of flow simulations, PID controller, physical valve hardware, and initial testing.

Electronic Theses & Dissertations (2024 - present)
Waveform design aims to achieve orthogonality among data signals/symbols across all available Degrees of Freedom (DoF) to avoid interference while transmitted over the channel. Precoding involves the decomposition of the channel matrix into orthogonal components for the purpose of constructing a precoding matrix that is then combined with the data signal to achieve orthogonality in the spatial dimension. On the other hand, modulation uses orthogonal carriers in a certain signal space to carry data symbols with minimal interference from other symbols. However, it is widely evident that next Generation (xG) wireless systems will experience very high mobility, density and time-varying …

Implementation Of Quantized Artificial Neural Networks With Spintronic Stochastic Computing, Saadi Sabyasachi Mr.
Theses and Dissertations
Artificial intelligence or machine learning is going through a rapid expansion. It also incurs significant costs for power and device footprints. Various approaches are being explored to design energy and hardware efficient machine learning models. Stochastic computing has been proposed for efficient machine learning implementation. It requires a source of random number generation which poses some practical challenges. So spintronic solutions such as magnetic tunnel junction has been used for random number generation. Again, spintronic random number generation to implement high precision circuit is prone to device-to-device variations. Hence we designed quantized artificial neural network with spintronic stochastic computing which …

Semantic Think-On-Graph (Semtog) : Enhancing Graphrag Through Semantic Community Detection, Sugam Mishra
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Graph-based Retrieval-Augmented Generation (GraphRAG) enhances large language models (LLMs) by grounding their reasoning in structured knowledge graphs, making them more reliable for multi-hop reasoning and factual QA. A central mechanism in Think-on-Graph systems such as ToG[14] and FastToG[7] is community detection, which groups locally related nodes into compact subgraphs so that LLMs can reason over focused, information-rich neighborhoods instead of traversing the entire graph. However, these methods rely purely on structural connectivity, often scattering semantically related entities across different communities and weakening the evidence provided to the LLM. We propose Semantic Think-on-Graph (SemToG), a semantic-aware extension of FastToG[7] that integrates …
