A Study Of In-School Suspension Programs In Area 7 Of Iowa, Stephen Darryl Glass
A Study Of In-School Suspension Programs In Area 7 Of Iowa, Stephen Darryl Glass
Dissertations and Theses @ UNI
Suspension has increasingly become one of the foremost problems confronting educational administrators in American public schools. The controversy over the advantages and disadvantages of out-of-school suspension has been on stage in the current educational scene. This conflict has evoked public skepticism and some intervention on the part of courts.
Educators have begun to develop in-school suspension programs as an alternative to out-of-school suspension. The major objective of in-school suspension is to have suspended students remain in the educational setting. This change in practice enables the school and community resources to be more readily used in remediating and facilitating the improvement …

Reduction In Force: An Analysis Of Procedures Used In The Roxana Community Unit School District #1 And Other School Districts In Illinois, Charles D. Conner
Masters Theses
The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors which led to a reduction in force and the procedures which were used in reducing certified personnel by 14% in the Roxana Community Unit School District #1 in 1976. The school board had used a RIF policy with which it was pleased, but which had made teachers unhappy. Was this just a natural reaction from any teacher organization or were the board and administration inadequately prepared for the major decisions made, when compared to the provisions and preparations made by other school boards across the state of Illinois? This question …

At the present time the state has issued two accounting guidelines, the Illinois Financial Accounting Manual and the Illinois Program Accounting Manual. Community Unit School District Number One is currently using the chart of accounts from the Illinois Financial Accounting Manual for Local School Systems, Circular Series A, Number 246, revised …
An Internship In Administration, Jerry Joe Newell
An Internship In Administration, Jerry Joe Newell
Masters Theses
The Field Study consisted of an internship in administration. An internship in administration in the field of vocational education appeared most beneficial to interests and objectives of the writer. The internship was served under the supervision of the director of vocational education and athletics. Activities in which the writer was involved within the athletic department offered limited value towards administrative experience beyond general supervision at athletic events. These activities were not a concern of the internship, since they would not normally be responsibilities of the vocational director.
A considerable part of the internship involved the routine management of the vocational …

Assisting The Re-Entry Woman: The Role Of The Community College, Shirley Jean Nettnin
Masters Theses
The woman who wishes to re-enter the worlds of work and education can be effectively assisted by the community college. The open admissions policies and the availability of counseling for community members make the two year college systems unique. They provide access to in-house opportunities in both academic and job oriented areas. Women appear to view them as being less threatening than a four year institution, while retaining the prestige of college.
Women who wish to alter their life-style are often apprehensive about beginning. They may be realistic and effective in making decisions within a familiar milieu, but unsure and …

A Model For Initiating Change In Large Social Systems, Richard E. Ault
Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to develop a model for introducing change in large social systems. The model was based on (1) a review of existing models, and (2) the analysis of a participant-observer study of an attempt at intraducing large system change. Organization Development was the focal change modality examined.
