A Method For Community Education Directors To Identify Activities Which Are Potential Time Wasters, Frank Glenn Cookingham

This study was designed for three purposes. First, an instrument, called the Time Allocation Inventory (TAI), was developed for community education directors to use in estimating the effects of allocating time to activities often classified as time wasters. Second, the reliability and types of information produced by two methods of scoring responses to the instrument were compared. Third, the effects of two different sets of conditions on responses to the instrument were investigated.
A time waster was defined as an activity which, in relation to another activity, is less effective in accomplishing desired goals or objectives within a specified time …

The major purposes of this 3-year ex post facto case study were to ascertain if a relationship exists between the rate of teacher absenteeism and program curtailments, necessitated by financial problems resulting from declining enrollments, and the morale of teachers. Specifically, this study analyzed the absence pattern of those teachers affected by building closings, academic reassignment, and notification of layoff, over a 3-year period, to determine their relationship to absenteeism.

The purpose of this study was to provide information which will stimulate a forecasting of educational problems and encourage a review of administrative training programs.
The purpose of the study was operationalized through three objectives: (1) to determine whether incongruencies existed between qualifications administrators perceived themselves having and educational problems they identified; (2) to investigate whether administrators and the public perceived the same educational problems; and, (3) to determine if the training needs administrators expressed were related to the educational problems they identified.
The study focused on administrative perceptions of problems and qualifications for the periods 1978-79, 1979-80 and 1980-85. …

The purpose of this study was to determine if the leader behavior of the principal and the organizational climate of the school were perceived differently by teachers in elementary schools with female principals when compared to elementary schools with male principals. It also sought to determine if significant differences existed between female and male teachers' perceptions of both female and male principals. A total of 217 subjects responded. Ten female and 10 male principals were evaluated by 119 female teachers and 98 male teachers using the Leader Behavior Description Questionnaire, Form XII (LBDQ) and the Organizational Climate Description Questionnaire, Form …

The purpose of this study was to collect data for examination and analysis of school vandalism and to provide a way for better understanding of the problem by examining the various contributors. The purpose of this study was to seek answers to the following: (1) items employed in schools to lessen vandalism, (2) attitudes of school principals concerning vandalism prevention, (3) dollar estimates of vandalism, (4) student absenteeism, and (5) teacher absenteeism. The purpose of this study was the description of the instructional supervisory role in the state of Tennessee as perceived by county public school instructional supervisors. The description constituted a determination of differences which exist between the actual and ideal role perceptions of county instructional supervisors. The determination was thought to be essential for movement toward role congruency, enhancement of instructional supervisory behavior, and the heightening of teacher-student engagement opportunities.

The purpose of this study was to examine relationships between the variables of (1) sex, (2) attitudes toward mathematics, (3) college grade point average (GPA), (4) American College Test (ACT) mathematics scores, (5) number of mathematics courses taken, and the variable of (6) mathematics computation scores on the California Achievement Test (CAT) Form 6 - Level 19. The hypothesis of a higher education bubble in the United States is one that has been discussed in literature for a number of years, with parallels being drawn to the inflation and deflation of prices of commodities in industries such as housing and the stock market. The purpose of this study was to assess the validity of the undergraduate grade point average (UGPA), the grade point average during the last two years of undergraduate work (LTYR), the Graduate Record Examination Verbal plus Graduate Record Examination Quantitative scores (GREM), the Graduate Record Examination Analytical Test score (GREAN) and the Graduate Record Examination Advanced Psychology Test score (GREAD) as predictors of graduate grade point averages (GGPA) in the Master of Arts degree program in Psychology at Western Kentucky University.
