High School Coaches' Handbook: Hoquiam School District #28, Theodore Alvin Pearson Jan 1985

High School Coaches' Handbook: Hoquiam School District #28, Theodore Alvin Pearson

All Graduate Projects

Hoquiam High School has had no centralized source for information on athletic procedures and policies. Because of differences in schedules, much time has been wasted by the Athletic Director in distributing information, and by coaches in seeking answers to specific questions. A coaching manual has been compiled to provide a single source of accurate information for the coaches. Information included is taken from state law, W.I.A.A. regulations, Black Hills League by-laws, and school policy.

The goal of this research is to present a legal perspective for the teaching of handicapped children in physical education and offer specific recommendations for the successful implementation of educational programs for the handicapped. A policy analysis was performed with regards to the legal aspects of teaching the handicapped child in physical education with …

Regular Education Teachers’ Attitudes And Knowledge Concerning The Mainstreaming Of Handicapped Students, Kenneth R. Brown

Dissertations (Pre-2016)

The purpose of this study was to determine whether regular education teachers, when given an intensive training program in all aspects of special education, will be more at ease when teaching handicapped students and in turn have im proved attitudes when working with these students. The data for the study were collected in 1984 and 1985 using a researcher-designed instrument entitled Special Education Attitude Survey (SEAS). A total of 93 teachers in the Spring Branch Independent School District (Houston, Texas) was in cluded in the study. A treatment group was administered training in a two-day workshop setting. Administrative Field Experience, Office Of The Superintendent, Atwood-Hammond Community Unit School District No. 39, Atwood, Illinois, James E. Morgan Jan 1985

Administrative Field Experience, Office Of The Superintendent, Atwood-Hammond Community Unit School District No. 39, Atwood, Illinois, James E. Morgan

Masters Theses

Since the major role of superintendent of schools is to be the liaison between the board of education/community and the faculty, it is important to understand the philosophy of each group. Research reveals that the superintendent is the pivotal person in public relations for all parties involved with the schools. The superintendent relays board policy to the district employees and has the responsibility of explaining these policies to the community. One interesting factor determining the responsibilities of the superintendent is school size. In small schools the focus is directly upon the superintendent of schools, but in larger schools the superintendent …

Toward A Rationale For Foreign-Language Proficiency Requirements For Doctoral Degrees In Selected Professional Disciplines, Aurelia Rae Holman Jan 1985

Toward A Rationale For Foreign-Language Proficiency Requirements For Doctoral Degrees In Selected Professional Disciplines, Aurelia Rae Holman

Dissertations

Problem. In the United States, a uniquely American situation exists in that there appears to be no uniform or consistent comprehensive rationale underlying foreign-language study and proficiency requirements for doctoral degrees. As contrasted to students in other parts of the world, especially in Europe--where compulsory basic requirements are usually met by language studies in elementary through secondary school--most American graduate students are ill-prepared for foreign-language proficiency examinations on the doctoral level.

Method. Historical literature was reviewed to gather information regarding the development of foreign-language requirements in the United States and in Europe. In addition, a request for information about current …
