A Survey Of Audio-Visual Practices In The Large Schools In New Hampshire, W. M. Cleveland

Teacher Education, Educational Leadership & Policy ETDs

It was the purpose of this survey to find out what towns, cities or school unions in the State of New Hampshire have done with audio-visual aids in their large schools. Its questions attempt to discover to what extent the individual unit has utilized its program of audio-visual aids, giving special attention to personnel responsible for the program and to money spent for these aids, both as a whole and per pupil.

An Experimental Investigation Of Relative Effectiveness Among Three Different Arithmetic Teaching Methods., Jimmie Joe Greathouse Apr 1965

An Experimental Investigation Of Relative Effectiveness Among Three Different Arithmetic Teaching Methods., Jimmie Joe Greathouse

Teacher Education, Educational Leadership & Policy ETDs

A substantial body of literature and theory trends during the past decade was aimed at upgrading elementary arithmetic programs. Generally, it advocated that educational improvement could be much greater in the future than it had been in the past if newer instructional processes and newer instructional materials were implemented in elementary school arithmetic programs. The impetus created by this literature is continuing at the present time. Currently, research and pilot projects in elementary school arithmetic instruction, experimental arithmetic curricula, commercial arithmetic textbooks, and university elementary teacher-education programs are cooperatively promoting widespread implementation of meaningful arithmetic teaching approaches and materials.

A Sociometric Investigation Of The Persistency Of Choice In Grade Levels Two Through Six, Dolores Lapointe Linton Aug 1964

A Sociometric Investigation Of The Persistency Of Choice In Grade Levels Two Through Six, Dolores Lapointe Linton

Teacher Education, Educational Leadership & Policy ETDs

Statement of the problem. There is a general conjecture among elementary school teachers that friendships and social preferences in the lower elementary grade fluctuate considerably, and that they tend to become increasingly more stable in the higher elementary grades, sometimes to the detriment of a well-ordered child society. Statements such as, “the younger ones don’t care with whom they are friendly,” and “Their best friends change every week” express the general feeling of instability and fluctuation in the lower grades. By contrast, many persons teaching in grades four to six feel that there is a tendency toward the development of …

Teacher Evaluation And The High School Principal, Donald E. Kremer Aug 1964

Teacher Evaluation And The High School Principal, Donald E. Kremer

Graduate Student Research Papers

One of the most serious problems confronting the beginning high school principal is that of teacher evaluation. Currently, teacher evaluation comes reasonably close to being the most discussed subject among educational practitioners. The literature on the topic is multiplying rapidly as people attempt to analyze, delineate, and appraise its various facets. The purpose of this paper is to set forth some guidelines which may prove useful to the beginning high school principal in one of the most important aspects of teacher and staff morale--teacher evaluation.
