The Qualitative Report

This paper explores how computer-assisted qualitative data analysis appears in the beliefs and practical work of beginner researchers. The paper outlines the advantages of computer-assisted qualitative data analysis for beginner researchers, identifies the problems that may arise during this process, and discusses the topics where software capable of analysing multi-coded data can be utilised. The investigation was conducted through structured interviews. The text corpora were processed using a combined method that incorporated theory-driven deductive and data-driven inductive processes.  The following were discussed: advantages and problems with computer-assisted qualitative data analysis, and topics where software for analyzing qualitative data can be …

Examining Self-Direction In Learning Programming Among First-Year Students, Abigail Blalock

Student Research Symposium (SRS)

In this poster, we present empirical insights into first-year students’ self-direction in learning programming. In this study, we use a 25-item Personal Responsibility Orientation to Self-Direction in Learning Scale (PRO-SDLS) to assess the self-direction of first-year students in learning programming. The PRO-SDLS is comprised of 4 constructs: self-efficacy, initiative, motivation, and control. Additionally, this study examines the results of the PRO-SDLS across different demographic groups (i.e., first-generation, students with employment, financial aid, etc.). A pre- and post-survey was administered during the Fall 2024 semester in an introductory programming course for first-year engineering students. Data was collected from seven course sections, …

Determinants Of Critical Thinking In The Ai Era: The Mediating Role Of Self-Efficacy In Digital Literacy And Students’ Social Interaction, Annisa Arrumaisyah Daulay, Atikah Asna, Devi Eka Yulita Br Tarigan Feb 2026

Determinants Of Critical Thinking In The Ai Era: The Mediating Role Of Self-Efficacy In Digital Literacy And Students’ Social Interaction, Annisa Arrumaisyah Daulay, Atikah Asna, Devi Eka Yulita Br Tarigan

Buletin Konseling Inovatif

The importance of critical thinking in higher education has become increasingly prominent amid the rapid advancement of digital technology and artificial intelligence. This study aims to examine the effects of social interaction and digital literacy on students’ critical thinking skills, with self-efficacy serving as a mediating variable. Employing a quantitative approach with path analysis, data were collected from 650 university students during the 2024/2025 academic year and analyzed using SmartPLS. The results indicate that self-efficacy has a significant effect on critical thinking (β = 0.455, p < 0.001) and functions as a mediator linking digital literacy (β = 0.286, p < 0.001) and social interaction (β = 0.166, p = 0.001) to critical thinking ability. Furthermore, digital literacy exerts a significant indirect effect on critical thinking through the enhancement of self-efficacy (indirect effect = 0.234, p < 0.001). These findings underscore that strengthening digital literacy and social interaction within educational curricula, along with fostering students’ self-efficacy, can effectively enhance critical thinking skills, which are essential for addressing academic and professional challenges in the digital era.

Leadership And Context For Comprehensive Internationalization: Senior International Officer Perspectives, Elenora Haag Feb 2026

Leadership And Context For Comprehensive Internationalization: Senior International Officer Perspectives, Elenora Haag

Journal of Comparative & International Higher Education

Increasing attention has been paid in recent years to the nature and importance of the role of the senior international officer (SIO) in higher education institutions. With reference to Knight’s (1994) internationalization cycle and Tierney’s (1988) framework of organizational culture, this basic qualitative study examines the intersection of leadership and institutional context as mediators of the internationalization process, a perspective which is lacking in the existing literature. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 11 SIOs from institutions that have received a national award for internationalization, with strategic planning documents serving as a secondary data source. Findings suggest that the roles of …

What Is Happening In The World Today And Why: Humanity’S Evolving Consciousness And The Role Of Archetypal Energies As Guides During An Unfolding, Carroy U. Ferguson

Journal of Conscious Evolution

What is happening in the world today and why? Humanity is evolving its consciousness at individual and collective levels. Given these seemingly tumultuous times, as of this writing (January 2026), to make such a statement may sound like a strange thing to say. However, I suggest that if you are alive today and if you are reading these words, these are the very times for which you were born—to assist Humanity as it evolves its consciousness with your unique gifts, whatever they may be. That is, this period of our individual and collective human being-ness may be characterized as an …
