Prevocational Guidance, Burton L. Ambrose

Bachelors’ Theses

A critical appreciation of the historical aspects of any contemporary educational movement is important. All modern social programs have their roots in the past. Our modern world is not static. No civilization rests on permanent changeless foundations. All reveal a growing changing organism. Development is the keynote, of what we often presume to call, progress. Movements, which were important a generation ago, have ceased to register a present value. Society is in a constant state of flux, and at no two periods have conditions been the same.

Every teacher of elementary physics should have a thorough understanding of the molecular kinetic theory of matter since it is so indispensable in the explanation of various phenomena in physical science. One might even divide contemporary elementary physics into three divisions, viz: mass physics, molecular physics and electronic physics.

The Open Season For Teachers: An Editorial

Science Bulletin

The next three months arc anxious ones among our teachers. Some are seeking advancement; others are hoping for re-election; and many are looking for their first school. Chance will play an important part in many cases. The "influential third party" will land positions for some. But for most applicants desirable qualifications will be the largest factor.

Atmospheric Pressure, L. Begeman Feb 1929

Atmospheric Pressure, L. Begeman

Science Bulletin

An account of the experiment reached Paris the next year and came to the notice of Pascal. He could not try the experiment until 1646 when glass tubes were available to him. Pascal reasoned that if the atmosphere supported the mercury column, the height of the column should be lessened when the apparatus was carried to a high altitude.

Book Aids For The Teacher Of Geography In The Elementary School, Stella M. Frye Feb 1929

Book Aids For The Teacher Of Geography In The Elementary School, Stella M. Frye

Bachelors’ Theses

In America, the development of the study of geography has been very slow, and until recent years, this country could boast of very few geographers, and had made little progress in the field of geographic research. Germany and France have long been leaders in this field, and some of the moot reliable authorities on the subject are the French and German geographers. Almost every country in Europe "now has its professional geographers and geography has long been recognized as a subject for independent study and research."

Cockroaches For Laboratory Study, Roy L. Abbott Jan 1929

Cockroaches For Laboratory Study, Roy L. Abbott

Science Bulletin

Teachers of high school biology are often handicapped by a lack of living material. This is particularly true in the teaching of insects. Most texts in biology use the grasshopper as a type of insect, largely, I suppose, because of its familiarity to the average pupil.
