The Nature Of Method, Emma H. Mater Aug 1929

The Nature Of Method, Emma H. Mater

Bachelors’ Theses

The child, the learner, as the center of interest around which the materials of development group themselves, is a primary concept of the new school. Experience, is the keynote. According to Rugg & Shumaker (1), the aims of the new education are two-fold, maximum growth in creative self-expression on one hand, and tolerant understanding of self and of society on the other. Freedom, pupil initiative, the active school, with the essential element of child interest, are the articles of faith of the new educational program. Safety Education In The Elementary School, Julia Alice Sheehan

Bachelors’ Theses

In modern civilization we find numerous and varied hazards, without a sufficient knowledge to combat the startling increase of accidents caused by these hazards. In the United States six per cent to the deaths are due to carelessness. The number of American soldiers, who made the supreme sacrifice in Europe during the nineteen months that our country was in the World War, was 77,118. Statistics of the United States Census Bureau show, in the death registration area of the United States during the twelve months of the year 1920, the number of violent deaths, exclusive of suicide, was 68,697. According …
