A Follow Up Study Of The Four-Year Teacher-Training Graduates Of The Bowling Green Of Commerce, 1937-1941, Mary Elizabeth Cornette

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

The Bowling Green College of Commerce is a division of the Bowling Green Business University, a privately owned and controlled institution which has been located in Bowling Green, Kentucky, since its removal there in 1884 from Glasgow, Kentucky. Until 1906 the Southern Normal School was associated with the Business University under the same management, but in that year the Normal School was made a state institution, the Western Kentucky State Normal School, and the Business University continued under private management.

In 1922 the Bowling Green College of Commerce was organized with an independent state charter as a division of the …

This type of memory is to be contrasted with "factual," or "verbatim" memory, in which the task is to retain specific, detailed facts stated in the reading material, and with rote memory, which involves the memory for illogical, disassociated, discrete …

An Evaluation Of General Science Textbooks, Cleo P. Morrissette Jul 1942

An Evaluation Of General Science Textbooks, Cleo P. Morrissette

Master's Theses or Doctor of Nursing Practice

The purpose of this thesis is twofold, which will be explained later; however, the particular problem under investigation is "An Evaluation of General Science Textbooks". The textbooks to be evaluated are those used at the high school level. As a further explanation of the particular problem under investigation, it should be stated that five general science texts were selected to be evaluated. These texts were not arrived at by personal choice, or preference, but rather by selecting the five most frequently used by teachers of science in high schools in the state of Kansas.

The Facilities Of High School Libraries In New Mexico, Hazel Hill Petty Apr 1942

The Facilities Of High School Libraries In New Mexico, Hazel Hill Petty

Teacher Education, Educational Leadership & Policy ETDs

The rapid growth of high schools within the past thirty years, and the changes in the methods of teaching, have made the library and important phase of any well-equipped high school. The capacity for service varies greatly in the different states. Some states have provided adequate equipment and staffs; others have given the bare necessities.

The purpose of this present study is: (1) to determine the facilities of high school libraries in New Mexico; (2) to ascertain the training and qualifications of the personnel; and (3) to compare the results with standards and recommendations made by library and educational associations.
