The need for a reorientation of science teaching in the high schools of America has been apparent since the 1940 1s. Due to this, the Biological Science Curriculum Study, hereafter referred to as BSCS, developed as a result of action by the Committee on Education of the American Institute of Biological Sciences. Large numbers of public schools in Minnesota have implemented BSCS and other innovations in an attempt to make their biology program a better one. The primary purposes of this study were:

Indonesia, potentially one of the richest and most powerful of the emerging nations, could profit by an active program in family-life education such as has proved beneficial in other parts of the world. This is especially true in the rural areas. It is the purpose or this paper to explore possibilities for and to develop an extension program in home improvement, sanitation, child care, and nutrition which could be set up at Indonesia Union College, located in a typical rural area of Java. The purpose of this study was to appraise certain aspects of kindergarten adjustment of children in San Joaquin County, California, who had participated in the Head Start program during the 1965 eight-week session, and compare it with the adjustment of a comparable group of kindergarten children who had not had an organized preschool experience by testing at the beginning and again at the end of the kindergarten year.

Basically speaking, it is important for pupils to attend school and to be present and to participate in ways in which the subject matter itself requires. The pride of every educational specialist in the secondary schools requires and expects such attendance and participation.
