The New Education, Mary Hyacinth Bauer Jul 1927

The New Education, Mary Hyacinth Bauer

Bachelors’ Theses

No study is possible except by the guidance of certain fixed principles. In a study of education this is true more than in any other study, because there are so many viewpoints and so few fixed objectives. Modern education is based upon certain fixed principles deduced from present day life and placed upon a scientific basis.

The Interpretation Of The Curriculum In Terms Of Projects, Catherine Francis O'Grady Jun 1927

The Interpretation Of The Curriculum In Terms Of Projects, Catherine Francis O'Grady

Bachelors’ Theses

This thesis is an attempt to show that through the utilization of projects the subject matter of the present curriculum functions as it should, is mastered more effectively, and learned more thoroughly because the project procedure is in complete accordance with the laws of learning. The writer desires, furthermore, to point out in particular a significant aspect of the project procedure, a corollary which appears on analysis truly phenomenal; roughly stated it is the fact that in a project procedure manifold opportunities are being constantly presented whereby desirable attitudes and ideals may most appropriately be fixed.

The Relation Of Athletics To The Adolescent Boy, Peter Francis Murphy Jr.

Bachelors’ Theses

The adolescent period, or "youth," as it is sometimes called, extends from the arrival of puberty to the attainment of maturity,. This period, therefore, begins about the twelfth or thirteenth year and is brought to a close in about the twenty first year, and for that reason is frequently termed the "teen" age.

The adolescent stage of life is usually split into three divisions, each overlapping the other, and these divisions are called for convenience, early, middle and late adolescence. The first extends from the twelfth to the fifteenth year, the second from the fourteenth to the eighteenth, and the …

Character Education, Anna Millmann

Bachelors’ Theses

Character is one of the greatest motive powers in the world. It exemplifies human nature in its highest forms for it exhibits man at his best. It is farmed by a variety of minute circumstances. more or less under the regulation and control of the individual. Not a day passes without its discipline. whether for good or for evil. There is no act, however trivial, but has its train of consequences. Every action, every thought, every feeling, contributes to the education of the temper, the habits, and understanding. and exercises an inevitable influence upon all the acts of our future …

Extra-Curricular Activities In The High School, Ethel Mary De Marsh

Bachelors’ Theses

The Growth Of Civic Education In The Schools, Alice F. Lantry Jun 1927

The Growth Of Civic Education In The Schools, Alice F. Lantry

Bachelors’ Theses

The term "civics" is now generally used to refer to the teaching of "civil government" including all those projects which tend to develop an interested, intelligent, efficient, loyal citizenship. It is much broader in scope than the term "civil government" which was formerly used and which was but a synonym for machinery of government.
