Addressing Grade Inflation In Advanced Practice Provider Jesuit Education, Mitzi Marie Saunders
Addressing Grade Inflation In Advanced Practice Provider Jesuit Education, Mitzi Marie Saunders
Jesuit Higher Education: A Journal
Grade inflation is defined as a high percentage of high grades in contrast to students’ academic achievements and/or an upward trend in the average grades awarded students. Globally, the A grade is the most common grade issued. Grade inflation is the norm and a topic largely understudied and inadequately addressed. Jesuit faculty can change this trajectory. For some, the matter is more urgent. In advanced practice provider (APP) education, patient safety could be at risk. This paper explores academic grading in the context of Ignatian pedagogy and identifies strategies to reduce grade inflation. It includes a study at a midwestern …

Education, Beliefs, And Health Literacy Of Care Providers On Mouth Care Of Older Adults, Molly Lakin
Honors Program: Senior Projects (Public)
Oral health is important to one’s overall health and quality of life as it can lead to chronic illnesses such as cardiovascular disease, stroke, and neurodegenerative disorders (Haumschild et al. 2021). In long-term care facilities, it is important that dependent older adults are provided mouth care to maintain their oral health and decrease their chances of developing a chronic illness; however, there are barriers affecting the level, quality, and quantity of mouth care being provided in these facilities. A survey was developed to look at the education, beliefs, and health literacy of care providers on providing mouth care in hopes …
The Effects Of Telehealth On Access To Palliative Care In Rural Communities, Ryleigh Hanson
The Effects Of Telehealth On Access To Palliative Care In Rural Communities, Ryleigh Hanson
Honors Program: Senior Projects (Public)
Patients with serious and life-limiting illnesses are in need of palliative care which allows for both the patient and their family to learn how to live a relatively quality life in spite of their illness. Current access to palliative care is limited to urban areas leaving those in rural communities to face their illness without proper care. To understand why these limitations exist and to determine possible solutions, several articles were analyzed that focused on the benefits and stigmas of palliative care, why rural communities struggle to gain access to palliative care, and if telehealth is a possible solution to …

Air Temperature And Diet Are Not Associated With Oxygen Consumption Rate In Banded Crickets, Gryllodes Sigillatus, Nicole Bailey, Connor Oakes, Rachel Sleeth, Mallorie Smith
Butler Journal of Undergraduate Research
All living organisms acclimate to their environments, with ectothermic species particularly susceptible to environmental change, specifically temperature. Ectothermic insects like crickets directly alter their physiological processes depending on the environment in which they live. Temperature is vital in regulating processes such as metabolism, respiration, and reproduction, among other things. What remains unclear is how a change in the environment, specifically extreme temperature change and dietary alterations, affects physiological processes. In this study, we performed experiments on ectothermic banded crickets to examine the effects of temperature change and the interaction of temperature and diet on oxygen consumption. For both experiments, we …
