Initially in this chapter it was important to look back and identify how important bees have been through the ages, noting that humans identified very early on that bees could enhance their lives. We then outline some of the contributions a focus on bees can make to sustainability education. One important contribution includes fostering a balanced perspective on …

Sustaining Private Higher Education Institutions’ Quality With Expandability And Inclusivity, Amal Salah Feb 2025

Sustaining Private Higher Education Institutions’ Quality With Expandability And Inclusivity, Amal Salah

Theses and Dissertations

Abstract The private higher education sector in Egypt is rapidly expanding. The Government of Egypt (GOE) supports its growth by providing legislation and incentives with the main objective of offering high-quality higher education to the growing youth bulge. Private universities react to the successive economic crises by raising their fees in order to maintain the quality of education. In the absence of supporting financial schemes for individual students, the surge in fees perpetuates inequity in access to private higher education for the lower socio-economic strata of the Egyptian society. This paper aims to address a gap in research concerning the …

God's Sovereignty In Jeremiah's Call (Jer. 1:4-19), Joseph Peters

Liberty Theological Review

In Jeremiah 1:4-19, God reveals to Jeremiah that God had chosen him to be a prophet over the nations before Jeremiah was even born. Even though Jeremiah presents objections to his commission, God assures Jeremiah that he will proclaim God’s message and does not need to fear as God will be with him. The message is concerned with both destruction and reconstruction, especially concerning Judah. Knowing that such a message would inevitably meet with opposition, God reassures Jeremiah that he has given Jeremiah the words to say and the protection that he needs to fulfill his task. This article will …

Science Across The Elementary Curriculum, Cora E. Fields Feb 2025

Science Across The Elementary Curriculum, Cora E. Fields

Undergraduate Theses

Science has increasingly become marginalized in the United States today. This is largely due to educational reforms and movements placing an emphasis on standardized testing and mastery of math and reading exclusively. This focus stems from initiatives such as the Back-to-the-Basics movement (1980s), the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) (2001), and the development of the Common Core standards (2010), which prioritize data collection and test results over the hands-on experiences and inquiry-based learning that good science education gives. Because of this, many of our students are not receiving consistent, meaningful access to science instruction. This limits their engagement with …

The Perspectives Of Play Advocates On Children’S Unstructured Play In Turkey, Bengi Sullu

Dissertations, Theses, and Capstone Projects

The Convention on the Rights of the Child has established children’s rights to non- discrimination, development, participation and the observance of their best interests. With this recognition, there has been a growing global interest in acknowledging play as a right. Yet unstructured play, in which children can choose when, where and how to play, with control over their play, has not received the same attention, support and investment as organized, structured play (UNCRC General Comment 17, 2013). The way adults perceive and support play shapes the play opportunities that are available to children (Bianquin, 2018; Göl-Güven, 2017). Additionally, institutions and …

Synchronizing Work And Teaching Practices With The Spatial Dna Of Distributed Work And Learning, Manju Aishwarya Adikesavan

Dissertations, Theses, and Capstone Projects

Phygitality, the seamless and synergistic integration of physical and digital realms, is an indispensable and irrevocable part of contemporary office-based work. Phygitality facilitates spatially and temporally distributed or multi-local working where employees work from diverse locations such as their home, office, and third places at any time of day or night. It also makes nonterritorial working at temporary workspaces accessed on a session-by-session basis possible.

This dissertation examines how phygital, multi-local, and nonterritorial working reshape individual and group work behaviors, organizational spatial practices, work-centric settings, non-work-centric settings, neighborhoods, cities, and regions. The Spatial DNA of Distributed Work encapsulates a conceptual …

An Analysis Of Green Water Footprint In Java Island Using The Cropwat Model, Emilya Nurjani, Anggun Nur Zahwa, Husnul Khotimah Setiacahyandari, Rofiana Budi Ayumi Sita Dewi, Isna Pujiastuti

Jurnal Pendidikan Geografi: Kajian, Teori, dan Praktek dalam Bidang Pendidikan dan Ilmu Geografi

Every human activity requires water, so if the water needs cannot be met from the natural availability of the region itself, then the water needs must be met from other regions. This concept is the basis for calculating virtual water flow and water footprint. Inequality or imbalance between the availability and demand for water in an area will make water a scarce commodity. From an economic point of view, it will become an economic good. This study aims to analyze agricultural water needs and the green water footprint in each region of Java Island. Calculate crop water requirements for the …
