Physical And Mental Development Through Kindergarten Activities, Cecelia M. Fitzgerald

Bachelors’ Theses

'Every principle of progressive education is observed in the organization of the work of the kindergarten. The imagination of the child is stimulated, his powers of observation are cultivated, and his vision is widened. Right attitudes toward social problems are established and interests are aroused in scores of real and worth while activities. Work and play are skillfully used to develop the child physically, mentally, and emotionally. The m1d-morning lunch period is used to establish many useful social habits and attitudes. Music and art are employed to arouse the child's interests in fine arts and start him on the road …

The Development Of Projects In The Elementary Grades, Florence Kuehn Jul 1936

The Development Of Projects In The Elementary Grades, Florence Kuehn

Bachelors’ Theses

The advocates of the project method claim that the project method brings the school close to "real life" by the use of concrete situations in the environment of the child. To organize a curriculum wholly upon the basis of activities of life, rather than in terms of subjects is ideally desirable. The old saying that one learns to do by doing is as true at the present time as at any time. When the children are engaged in activities that they enjoy, they enter it zealously, and besides acquire veritable, incidental knowledge, attitudes, and new interests which will keep them busy …

An Analytical Study Of Utah Verse To Determine What Utah Poetry Might Be Recommended For Study In Elementary And Secondary Utah Schools, Lawrence James Sorenson May 1936

An Analytical Study Of Utah Verse To Determine What Utah Poetry Might Be Recommended For Study In Elementary And Secondary Utah Schools, Lawrence James Sorenson

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

This study has a primary and a secondary purpose. The primary purpose is to call attention to the question of whether or not Utah verse should be introduced for study into the elementary and secondary schools of Utah. The author does not want to imply that he will give a satisfactory answer to this question. He hopes, however, that this effort will emphasize the question and stimulate thought concerning the same. It seems reasonable to suppose that most of the Utah school officials who are concerned in any way with literary material for school curricula will agree that, if there …
