The Assembly Period, Marion Mclean Reddeman Jun 1938

The Assembly Period, Marion Mclean Reddeman

Bachelors’ Theses

Going back to the early schools of the United States, we find that the only source of education was the formal classroom exercise. However, in comparing this situation with that of the present day, we now see a field of the so-called extra curricular activities. The regularly required book lessons, while they still have their importance, are inadequate in themselves in helping a youth build a firm social, physical, and spiritual foundation. One of the most significant developments for this phase of education is the school assembly period.

An Activity Program In The First Grade, Claudine Liberato Jun 1938

An Activity Program In The First Grade, Claudine Liberato

Bachelors’ Theses

A truly educated person will be capable of adjustment to a changing world, and things are changing. Our times are changing as times never changed before and these changes make new demands on education. Our education must greatly change itself in order to meet the new situation. The individual will. realize that he must not only be ready to live under a new social order, but help to bring it about. He will exemplify the highest type of living himself and place great stress on the appreciation of fine human lives wherever they may be found.

Building A Course Of Study In Primary Science For The Shorewood Public Schools, Edna J. Duhn

Bachelors’ Theses

The task of developing a course of study in primary science which would fit the particular needs of the Shorewood public schools was begun in the fall of 1933. A representative committee of primary teachers was formed and called the Primary Science Committee. This committee worked in conjunction with the Curriculum Coordinator, Miss Marjorie Pratt, and was assisted by all of the primary and kindergarten teachers in the Shorewood system.

Potentialities Of The Maladjusted Child, Claire Alice Mulholland May 1938

Potentialities Of The Maladjusted Child, Claire Alice Mulholland

Bachelors’ Theses

Changes in education today are changes in emphasis rather than changes in scope. The emphasis points to the child as the learner rather than to the subject matter to be learned. Consequently, we are becoming more concerned with guiding individuals than in attempting merely to educate the masses.
