School Of Practical Art Course Catalog (1943-1944), School Of Practical Art

Art Institute of Boston (AIB) Course Catalogs

The School of Practical Art was established in 1912 by Roy Atherton Davidson. For twenty-nine years it has regularly and consistently trained its students to engage in remunerative work in those branches of art which are necessary to business and industry. Today it occupies an important position in the training and placing of artists in this work.

The drawings and paintings reproduced in this catalog are all original, and were made by students who began their art school training with no more talent than you are familiar with in high school work. Unusual talent is not necessary and you should …

Original Stories And Tales Emphasizing The Theme Of Conservation For Use With Kindergarten Children To Which Are Attached A Group Of Poems For Children Of The Same Age, Anne A. Simminger

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

Thrift, that homely, old-fashioned virtue, is the theme of the following thesis. Webster defines it as "care and wisdom in the management of one's resources." Now, in our national emergency, we find it becoming the mode, and likely to be valued more and more as America assumes her world responsibility. If we have trained to thrift in the necessities of life, we have reserve with which to bring into it also. Often, to save an object calls forth resourcefulness and creative ability. Witness the antimacassars of a day gone by, lovely webs of lace and linen, made by the lady …

A Science Syllabus For The Intermediate School Grades Especially Adapted For Rural Schools In California, Jacob A. Misfeldt Jan 1943

A Science Syllabus For The Intermediate School Grades Especially Adapted For Rural Schools In California, Jacob A. Misfeldt

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

The development of a well organized functional science program in the elementary grades is an urgent problem for curriculum builders. This is especially true in the upper grades. There has been much commendable work done in grades one to six in curriculum development and in textbook writing. However, the upper grades in the elementary school have not been so fortunate. Here is a vast field waiting for constructional development. It is hoped that this study is a step in the right direction.

An Evaluation Of General Science Textbooks, Cleo P. Morrissette Jul 1942

An Evaluation Of General Science Textbooks, Cleo P. Morrissette

Master's Theses or Doctor of Nursing Practice

The purpose of this thesis is twofold, which will be explained later; however, the particular problem under investigation is "An Evaluation of General Science Textbooks". The textbooks to be evaluated are those used at the high school level. As a further explanation of the particular problem under investigation, it should be stated that five general science texts were selected to be evaluated. These texts were not arrived at by personal choice, or preference, but rather by selecting the five most frequently used by teachers of science in high schools in the state of Kansas.

Free Reading Interests Of The Pupils In The Seventh And Eighth Grades, Anna Dillon May 1942

Free Reading Interests Of The Pupils In The Seventh And Eighth Grades, Anna Dillon

Master's Theses or Doctor of Nursing Practice

A concise statement of the problem of the thesis is “To discover the Free Reading Interests of Seventh and Eighth Grade Boys and Girls.” More specifically the study is for the purpose of discovering the amount, the character, and nature of the voluntary reading done by seventh and eighth grade pupils now enrolled in the public schools of Hays, Kansas. By "Free reading" is meant that which the pupil does because of his own volition rather than that done because of suggestions made by the teacher.
