Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages
The Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) is a comprehensive program that compiles data on employment and wages for workers covered by state unemployment insurance laws and Unemployment Compensation for Federal Employees (UCFE). It provides a virtual census of nonagricultural employees and their wages, along with data on agricultural industries. The QCEW program is a cooperative effort between the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and state employment security agencies.

The United Society of Believers in Christ’s Second Appearing, commonly called Shakers, are a most unique communistic group in American history. Their society had an economic as well as a religious base. Because of this entwining relationship, the Shakers outlived all other communistic societies in the United States.
From the beginning the Shakers placed great emphasis on the economic aspects of their communal society and this emphasis played a paramount role in many of their major decisions. There are forty-two independent telephone companies and the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company of Virginia currently providing telephone services throughout the State of Virginia. The general goal of this study is to establish the economic nature and significance of the telephone industry on the State of Virginia. The basic function of this industry is to provide an increasingly vital service - communications within and between areas of the State, The United States, and foreign countries.
