The report highlights the strong economic and demographic relationship between the Belen-Los Lunas area and the Albuquerque metropolitan region. Approximately one-third of employed residents in the primary service area commuted to Albuquerque for work, and local population growth was closely tied to expansion within the Albuquerque Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area (SMSA). The study notes that most local industry was service-oriented and commercial in character, with relatively limited manufacturing activity.
Private Pensions And The Free Market, John Louis Dobra
Private Pensions And The Free Market, John Louis Dobra
Dissertations and Theses
In light of the retirement phenomena, the development and utilization of private pensions may be viewed as a market response based on individual and collective recognition of the need to plan to finance retirement from the labor force. This market response however, is shown to have produced a profusion of independent differential pension schemes which may vary with respect to their administrative mechanisms, the type and adequacy of benefits paid, the level at which contributions are made to the plan by participants and the basis of these contributions, and the adequacy of funding. As a result, it is not only …

Testing The Accuracy Of Static Input-Output Analysis, Peter Earle Coughlin
Testing The Accuracy Of Static Input-Output Analysis, Peter Earle Coughlin
Economics ETDs
Three aspects of static input-output analysis were investigated: (1) the acceptability of its sectoral (65 order) accuracy in projecting changes in intermediate outputs when using the actual vector of final demands for the year concerned; (2) the advisability of extrapolating a continuation of the rate of change in technical coefficients where those shifts had been dramatic between 1947 and 1958; (3) the workability of a variant of a non-homogeneous linear system where the marginal coefficients were derived from the 1947 and 1958 tables.
It was found that in any given projected year about one-third of the sectoral projections had to …

An Application Of The Income Elasticity Concept To The Demand For Housing, Loyce Bagwell
An Application Of The Income Elasticity Concept To The Demand For Housing, Loyce Bagwell
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
Many studies approach the housing-income relationship by calculating the income elasticity of demand for housing. This study employs this approach in order to (1) test the implications of the permanent income hypothesis by using data which provide both biased and unbiased elasticity coefficients and (2) test the effects which the explanatory variable, family composition, may have on the elasticity coefficients.
The methodology involves regressing the log of housing expenditure on the log of disposable income for seven different family compositions in order to obtain the income elasticity coefficients. This approach is applied to data (cross section 1960-61 BLS consumer surveys) …

"Producing A World Crop In A World Market", Clayton K. Yeutter
Clayton K. Yeutter, United States Secretary of Agriculture: Papers
From the very beginning, rice in the United States has been an export crop. History shows that the development of the U.S. rice industry started in about 1964, and by 1698 sufficient rice was being produced to warrant an effort to export it.
That same year a petition was drawn up in South Caroline where the rice was being produced to get the English to drop their import tariffs on colony-produced rice. Two years later about 300 tons were shipped to England.
