Steganographic Capacity Of Selected Machine Learning And Deep Learning Models, Lei Zhang Jan 2023

Steganographic Capacity Of Selected Machine Learning And Deep Learning Models, Lei Zhang

Master's Projects

As machine learning and deep learning models become ubiquitous, it is inevitable that there will be attempts to exploit such models in various attack scenarios. For example, in a steganographic based attack, information would be hidden in a learning model, which might then be used to gain unauthorized access to a computer, or for other malicious purposes. In this research, we determine the steganographic capacity of various classic machine learning and deep learning models. Specifically, we determine the number of low-order bits of the trained parameters of a given model that can be altered without significantly affecting the performance of …

Efficient Gpu Implementation Of Automatic Differentiation For Computational Fluid Dynamics, Mohammad Zubair, Desh Ranjan, Aaron Walden, Gabriel Nastac, Eric Nielsen, Boris Diskin, Marc Paterno, Samuel Jung, Joshua Hoke Davis

Computer Science Faculty Publications

Many scientific and engineering applications require repeated calculations of derivatives of output functions with respect to input parameters. Automatic Differentiation (AD) is a method that automates derivative calculations and can significantly speed up code development. In Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), derivatives of flux functions with respect to state variables (Jacobian) are needed for efficient solutions of the nonlinear governing equations. AD of flux functions on graphics processing units (GPUs) is challenging as flux computations involve many intermediate variables that create high register pressure and require significant memory traffic because of the need to store the derivatives. This paper presents a …

A Monitoring Infrastructure To Improve Flipped Learning In Technological Courses, Francisco Ortin, Jose Quiroga, Miguel Garcia

Department of Mathematics Publications

Flipped learning changes the traditional instructional approach of lectures. In flipped classrooms, the students work at home, while in-class sessions are used for other more interactive and active learning approaches guided by the lecturer. While flipped learning has shown many benefits, it is not easy to include remote students in face-to-face in-class sessions, and there is still reluctance from shy students to participate. In technological courses, classroom sessions in flipped learning require the installation of many software packages together with those tools commonly used by the students. Our objective is to improve these limitations in flipped learning by using an …
