Biblical Hermeneutics And Hebraism In The Early Seventeenth Century As Reflected In The Work Of John Weemse (1579-1636), Jay Shim May 1998

Biblical Hermeneutics And Hebraism In The Early Seventeenth Century As Reflected In The Work Of John Weemse (1579-1636), Jay Shim

Virtually all of the older modern studies interpreted post- Reformation theology and its biblical study as "dogmatic," "deductive," "rationalistic," and "unspiritual," descriptions allegedly made in a comparison and contrast of the characteristics of post-Reformation thought with the theology of the early sixteenth century. These pejorative descriptions typically state that post-Reformation biblical exegesis was a deductive reading of dogmas into Scripture using a predetermined dogmatic analogy of faith. This …

Genesis 2:26, Michael G. M. Cornelius Jan 1998

Genesis 2:26, Michael G. M. Cornelius

Theses, Dissertations and Capstones

On the eighth day, God sighed.

The noise rumbled through heaven and earth. The cherubim were silenced; the seraphim held their breath. Even the archangels ceased their endless activity to crane their necks and look about.

To Remember, Repent, Renew, David L. Coppola

Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies Faculty Publications

The National Catholic Educational Association (1998) reports that 13.6% or 359,146, of all students in Catholic elementary, middle, and secondary schools are non-Catholic, manifesting the importance of educating Catholic school students to understand and appreciate the diversity of cultures and religions other than their own. This article examines some ways that Catholic schools can educate students about the Jewish Holocaust, or Shoah, and through its study embrace a truly Catholic approach.
