In 2020, Cuba implemented the Tarea Ordenamiento (Tarea), the most significant economic reform since the construction of the socialist economy after the Revolution. Signaling an eclectic brand of Cuban socialism, the Tarea clears away three decades of tried and failed economic doctrines, drawing a new fiscal border around state enterprises, nodding to market realities, and preparing the island for greater insertion into the world economy. Festivals have been conceptualised as serious leisure activities as well as arenas for cultural capital acquisition and embodiment. However, there is still theoretical confusion surrounding the process of cultural embodiment, especially in leisure practices. This paper suggests that the serious leisure perspective, in combination with cultural capital ideas, offer a means of deepening understanding of how cultural capital can be embodied in festival settings. To make its arguments, the paper draws on qualitative data collected at two long-established literary festivals, one in Ireland and one in Italy. The 2021 Supreme Court ruling granting college athletes the right to monetize their name, image, and likeness (NIL) was greeted in equal measure by enthusiasm and confusion by college athletes and the institutions for which they compete. This paper suggests an approach whereby college classes can provide guidance for college athletes to navigate the nascent, evolving NIL rules and provide an opportunity for current, relevant project-based learning. Artists have long been called observers, voyeurs, and watchers, and with a
/="/">particular interest in human behavior and society, they frequently use unknowing
/="/">passersby as their subjects for works. Curators and scholars explored how artists put citizens under surveillance with photography and videography, which dates back to the early 1900s, years before governments deployed surveillance systems. Since the 1980s, artists have explicitly explored surveillance technology and theory to alert viewers to the rise of surveillance. Today, this genre is called artveillance, a term coined by Andrea Mubi Brighenti in 2010 to categorize art that explicitly deals with surveillance. …

การศึกษาวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ในการศึกษาความเป็นไปได้ในการพัฒนาระบบและอุปกรณ์สำหรับการควบคุมแสงสว่างในอุตสาหกรรมสร้างสรรค์ในประเทศไทย ในขณะที่หน่วยงานรัฐบาลประเทศไทยมีนโยบายการส่งออกอุตสาหกรรมสร้างสรรค์เป็นอีกหนึ่งรายได้หลักของประเทศ ส่งผลต่อความต้องการบุคลากรเชี่ยวชาญมากขึ้น ผู้วิจัยพบว่ากรณีศึกษาที่ประสบความสำเร็จในต่างประเทศได้ประยุกต์ใช้ระบบอินเทอร์เน็ตเพื่อส่งสัญญาณระยะไกลในการควบคุมระบบแสงในอุตสาหกรรมสร้างสรรค์ ดังนั้นงานวิจัยฉบับนี้จะศึกษาการนำเทคโนโลยีดังกล่าวเพื่อเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพของบุคลากรและประเมินความเป็นไปได้ในการประยุกต์ใช้กับนักออกแบบและผู้ควบคุมระบบแสงในประเทศไทย การศึกษาวิจัยเก็บข้อมูลทั้งการศึกษาเชิงคุณภาพ (Qualitative Research) จากผู้เชี่ยวชาญและมีประสบการณ์การออกแบบแสงในอุตสาหกรรมสร้างสรรค์ และการศึกษาเชิงปริมาณ (Quantitative Research) กลุ่มตัวอย่างจำนวน 100 ราย ผู้วิจัยได้นำเสนอการออกแบบระบบควบคุมแสงผ่านอินเทอร์เน็ตที่ประยุกต์ให้เหมาะสมกับผู้ออกแบบแสงชาวไทย ผ่านกระบวนการพัฒนาผลิตภัณฑ์ใหม่ (New Product Development) ผลิตภัณฑ์ต้นแบบถูกออกแบบโดยเน้นความง่ายในการเชื่อมต่ออุปกรณ์และความสะดวกในการใช้งาน เพื่อรองรับผู้ที่มีความรู้ที่จำกัด มุ่งลดแรงงาน ประหยัดเวลา ซึ่งจะช่วยเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพในการทำงานเพิ่มขึ้น ผลการศึกษาการยอมรับผลิตภัณฑ์ใหม่พบว่าผู้ที่ทดสอบผลิตภัณฑ์ต้นแบบมีความเห็นว่ามีประโยชน์และตรงความต้องการ ได้คะแนนมากถึง 4.45 คะแนน และมีความสนใจใช้ผลิตภัณฑ์ต้นแบบจริง ได้คะแนน 4.4 คะแนน ในส่วนของการคาดการณ์และสมมุติฐานการดำเนินการทางธุรกิจก็มีความเป็นไปได้ในการประกอบธุรกิจด้วยระยะเวลาคืนทุน (Payback Period) ในระยะเวลาประมาน 3 ปี 4 เดือน

This research argues that establishing and sustaining leadership diversity within Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) is a complex-systems challenge and that those responsible for leading efforts to establish and sustain diversity, referred to as DEI leaders, should adopt a mindset of systems thinking and apply problem-solving methods and tools informed by systems thinking. Semi-structured interviews with DEI Leaders at HEIs were conducted regarding background and perceptions of their work, and how they thought about and made choices concerning diversity challenges. This dissertation disrupts at least two religious spaces: First, scholars religiously adhering to (social) scientific norms, and second, people identifying with religious organizations (i.e., churches). First, we begin constructing a theoretical lens using poststructural ideas offered by Foucault, Derrida, and Bakhtin to read and disrupt (religious) discourse. Second, we complicate organizational identification as a concept, deeming it fixed and fluid—a paradox within religious discourses that endorse Truth and Perfection. Emergency Care System (ECS) is a critical component of health care systems by providing acute resuscitation and life-saving care. As a time-sensitive care operation system, any delay and mistake in the decision-making of these EC functions can create additional risks of adverse events and clinical incidents. Theming, Service Performance, And Downstream Effects Of Subjective Leisure Experiences, Brian J. Hill, Patti Freeman, Gary Ellis, Emily Catalan

We examined determinants (i.e., theming and service performance) and results (proclivity to recommend, enjoyment, perceived value of time spent) of structured leisure experiences. Structured leisure experiences were measured in terms of intensity of engagement (focus on unfolding narrative), absorption (focus on sensory stimuli), and immersion (focus on performance) during participation. Experience measures (n=310) reported by 168 young adults upon exiting a variety of leisure, recreation, and hospitality venues supported the research hypotheses.

Covid-19 has been the most significant economic shock of the 21st century, evidenced by the S&P 500 index plunging over 30% in early 2020. Business leaders who fail to prepare for black swan events are at a high risk of failure. Grounded in Taleb’s black swan theory, the purpose of this qualitative multiple case study was to explore strategies some public market CEOs use to defend share price returns during economic shocks. The selected emerging markets are Ghanaian financial service providers (FSP)s and microenterprise customers (CME)s, where we examine how “Ubuntu”, an African philosophy of humanism, legitimizes spaces for a more democratic, egalitarian, and ethical engagement of human beings. This study adopts a grounded theory methodology for investigation of the phenomena with a sample size of 70 relationship managers. The COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on the Broadway theatre industry, with all performing arts venues suspending performances for at least 18 months. The economic recession associated with the COVID-19 pandemic left actors, directors, and theater workers unemployed for months on end, causing undue economic harm to individual finances and the industry. Since the reopening of Broadway plays and musicals in the fall of 2021, very few shows have been able to reach pre-pandemic levels of income and attendance. JOHNSON CITY – East Tennessee State University has unveiled a hand-painted, limited-edition ornament for sale this holiday season.

A new annual tradition, this year’s ornament features Gilbreath Hall – the building where it all began in 1911 in what was then East Tennessee State Normal School. Named for Sidney Gilbreath, the college’s first president, Gilbreath Hall is where many alumni enjoyed a performance in the Bud Frank Theatre or took their first mathematics or computer science course.
