Purpose: Ski culture sells freedom and enforces conformity. This review asks what unconscious behavioral patterns hold that contradiction in place, and how brands capitalize on it to manufacture belonging.

Design/Methodology/Approach: A narrative literature review across consumer psychology, behavioral neuroscience, sociology, and ski industry research. No primary data were collected. Four accounts of consistency-seeking are synthesized into one framework, then applied to three ski industry cases at ascending scales and tested against a comparative case from Spanish football.

Findings: Belonging is a conditioned response, and conditioning requires a stable stimulus. Consistency is therefore the precondition of belonging rather than a constraint …

As generative AI tools become widely accessible, workers are steadily building capabilities and co-producing knowledge through informal AI engagements that operate entirely outside sanctioned training systems. While previous research has recognized the importance of participation, how the structurally embedded inclusion of PWDs reshapes digital innovation processes and their outcomes in resource-constrained contexts remains underexplored. The study addresses this gap through a longitudinal qualitative case study of a five-year recurring hackathon organized in Ghana from 2021 to 2025, with a focus on disability inclusion. Drawing on Adaptive Structuration Theory as an analytical lens, normatively supported by critical disability studies, this study analyzes the qualitative interview and observation data from 20 participants. Health information technology (HIT) is central to modern healthcare, yet its value depends on user satisfaction with system performance, support services, and institutional commitment. At Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), the Lightwave Health Information Management System (now GHIMS) has transformed workflows, but frontline user experiences remain underexplored. This study assessed factors influencing user satisfaction with HIT and examined how satisfaction affects job performance. A quantitative survey instrument was administered to sample 352 staff at KATH. System quality, service quality, and top-management support were all significant predictors of user satisfaction. Surveillance pricing is a method of price discrimination in which firms use personal data to set individualized prices. While this practice is often criticized on grounds of privacy, unfairness, or exploitation, these objections do not fully explain what is morally objectionable about surveillance pricing. This paper examines surveillance pricing through the lenses of price discrimination, market competition, efficiency, exploitation, and deception. I argue that surveillance pricing is not inherently unethical merely because it results in different consumers paying different prices for the same product. Nor is it necessarily objectionable when it promotes mutually beneficial exchanges and efficient market outcomes. The …

Self-medication has become a central experience for youth transitioning toward independent medical decision-making. In the digital era, young people must navigate a complex landscape of health information while seeking independent health solutions. This study investigates self-medication experiences and healthcare trust among youth, utilizing a regionally concentrated digital survey approach in Indonesia. Data were collected via a cross-sectional approach using digital platforms (Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter/X), facilitated by 76 trained enumerators. This study critically examines the global startup movement through political economy, classical sociology, and Southern perspectives to assess whether digital entrepreneurship fosters genuine, decentralized innovation or perpetuates speculative financialization and labor precarity. Purpose/Rationale

The purpose of this study was to examine factors (needs and motivations) that contribute to retention of young soccer officials.

Design/Methodology/Approach

An online survey was distributed to soccer referees who received their first USSF officiating license as a juvenile.

Findings:

Correlational and regression analyses yielded five key findings: (1) Self-Determination Theory (SDT) principles are salient to retention; (2) Intrinsic Motivation and Sense of Community significantly impact retention; (3) variables across scales were highly correlated and had large effect sizes; (4) findings were similar across demographic variables; and (5) small increases to Relatedness and Choice had a large impact on …

Many equity investors are concerned with the world’s worsening social and environmental problems and are losing faith in the capacity of political institutions to respond. Corporate behavior is often contributing to these problems. Migration studies have mostly portrayed employers as paternalistic or exploitative, creating the very conditions that make migrants’ lives insecure and unstable. This paper challenges this view by showing how the market can also be an unlikely source of protections, where extractive work conditions co-exist with a certain degree of social support. Drawing on interviews with 45 Filipino cruise workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, I discuss how migrants used a logic of employee rights to claim benefits such as food, housing and insurance. Yet existing research often favors decentralized structures, frequently treating them as universally superior, and provides limited guidance on when centralization may be more effective. This dissertation comprises three chapters examining how political risk and tax enforcement shape corporate investment decisions and firm value. The first essay investigates how firm-level political risk affects investment efficiency among U.S. firms. Using 40,215 firm-year observations spanning 2002-2022 and exploiting the Hassan et al. (2019) political risk index as a firm-specific measure, we find that political risk reduces investment efficiency exclusively through underinvestment - a one-standard-deviation increase corresponds to approximately $5.7 million in foregone annual investment for a median firm. Mediation analysis confirms that precautionary cash hoarding accounts for 31.8% of the effect, establishing uncertainty - rather than capital …
