Key Factors Influencing Job Satisfaction Among Academic Staff In The University, Victor Amadi Stephen
Key Factors Influencing Job Satisfaction Among Academic Staff In The University, Victor Amadi Stephen
School of Rehabilitation Services & Counseling Faculty Publications
Job satisfaction (JS) undoubtedly impacts significantly on the productive capacity and general well-being of academic staff within universities. Poor JS affects not only individual performance but also broader institutional goals and may culminate in a decline in staff morale, disloyalty, constant labor migration and unending industrial actions by labor unions within the university. Enhancing job satisfaction can improve staff’s quality of service, staff retention, productivity, and the overall academic quality of the institutions. This study reviews factors associated with job satisfaction among academic staff in universities, and how these factors independently contribute to overall job satisfaction. This study draws on …

Cooperative Preschool Education In Ethnic China: Ulanqab Case Study, Yu Dong, Siow-Hooi Tan, Hway-Boon Ong
International Journal of Management, Finance and Accounting
The integrated education of family, kindergarten, and community is crucial for children’s development. However, in China’s ethnic regions, preschool education faces significant shortcomings, with limited community involvement and consideration of ethnic characteristics. This study aims to address these gaps by proposing a conceptual framework tailored for ethnic areas, focusing on the Ulanqab region. Drawing on domestic and international research, we develop a model comprising family, preschool, and community inputs, emphasising the importance of community participation. The model includes educational inputs, educational processes, and target outcomes, with the goal of improving preschool education quality. Through this research, we seek to understand …

Influences On Small Business Leaders’ Decisions About Supportive Policies And Practices For Employees Who Have Experienced Intimate Partner Abuse, Marilyn Lucille Brock
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Intimate partner abuse affects millions of individuals from all segments of society, and existing literature demonstrates that it has extensive impacts on American companies through loss of workplace productivity, reduced workplace safety, and employee turnover. While several supportive policies and practices have been suggested for implementation in business environments, many business leaders do not perceive the utilization of such measures as having business value. Thus, this study addresses the question, What influences business leaders’ decisions about whether and to what degree to adopt policies and practices for responding to employees’ experiences of intimate partner abuse? This dissertation is a qualitative …

Libraries
The author presents highlights from a paper accepted at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting. A 12-minute videorecording is also available.
Gender and leadership research has traditionally employed a binary framework, overlooking the experiences of transgender and gender non-conforming (TGNC) leaders and forcing leaders of all genders and intersectional identities into a dichotomous frame. This paper reviewed interdisciplinary literature using a robust search strategy in three academic databases and Google Scholar, as well as across eight leadership studies journals. Sixteen sources involving 440 leaders’ experiences were found. The author conducted a thematic analysis to explore how TGNC leaders’ experiences challenge …

Sales Professional Preservation: Examining The Impact Of Incongruent Ideological Belief Systems On Intentions To Quit Among Sales Professionals, Brian Lee Morgan
Sales Professional Preservation: Examining The Impact Of Incongruent Ideological Belief Systems On Intentions To Quit Among Sales Professionals, Brian Lee Morgan
Dissertations
Organizations that lead with ideologies of moral tradition, politics, and social economics are playing a losing game. The ideological belief system congruence within the organization between leaders and members creates a better atmosphere with less turnover and better recruitment. Sales professionals want an environment free of ideological incongruence. Without ideological alignment, they will defect from the organization. Leaders are miscalculating the negative impact on members’ intentions to quit when they are faced with leaders acting upon ideology changes that affect the member-customer ecosystem. In addition, leaders should be aware of the personal attributes that can exacerbate turnover and work to …

Do Social Support, Supervisory Feedback, And Job Stress Matter To An Employee’S Sense Of Ownership? Context In The Lodging Sector, Aladin M. Ibrahim, Zyra R. Cabrera, Rodin S. Pescuela
Journal of Global Hospitality and Tourism
In the face of intensified competition within the hospitality sector, exacerbated by the challenges of post-pandemic recovery, organizations are increasingly focused on re-engaging employees impacted by workforce reductions and retaining those who demonstrate a strong sense of attachment, care, and commitment to their workplace. These ownership behaviors are pivotal in fostering organizational stewardship and driving performance. However, the question arises: how can organizations cultivate and enhance these positive employee behaviors? This study investigates the influence of leader- and work-related factors, including social support, supervisory feedback, and job stress, on employees’ sense of ownership towards their organization. Employing a survey methodology, …

Instruments used include the Athletic Identity Measurement Scale (AIMS), the Athlete Satisfaction Questionnaire (ASQ), the Student-Athlete’s Motivation Towards Sports and Academics Questionnaire (SAMSAQ), and the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-being Scale (WEMWBS). The “Consistent Chameleon”: Values-Driven Leadership Among Social And Business Leaders Doing Social Entrepreneurship, Esthi Nave, Hagai Katz
The Journal of Values-Based Leadership
Changing norms in the organizational world drive new hybrid organizational phenomena that reflect an expectation that businesses will be more values-driven and values-driven social organizations will be more businesslike. However, mixing moral values and hard-nosed business creates contradictions. Indeed, research on social/business hybrids has revealed tensions and challenges. Yet, not enough is known about how social entrepreneurs address these inherent contradictions. We explore this question qualitatively through 25 interviews with two types of social/business hybrid organization leaders and their seconds in command: social entrepreneurs who work solely in the social sector (‘exclusive’) and businesspeople who start social ventures (‘dual’).

In the present study, 40 students enrolled in the senior-level capstone business course and 26 students enrolled in the freshman-level introductory business course in an AACSB accredited business school were administered surveys to determine career preferences and the factors influencing those preferences. The results of the introductory-level course are compared to those of students in the senior-level capstone business course and reported. …

What if philanthropic evaluations told us that changes in the world had occurred, as well as how and why they occurred, including whether what foundations funded and grantees did contributed to those changes? What if evaluations made change pathways more visible, tested hypotheses and assumptions, and generated new insights based on what happened in the “black box” of systems change strategies? This type of learning comes from causal analysis — inquiry that explores cause-and-effect relationships.
