Design For A Developing Consortium, Henry A. Mauermeyer May 1974

Design For A Developing Consortium, Henry A. Mauermeyer

Theses

The number of consortia in American higher education expanded rapidly from only ten in 1960 to eighty in 1973. Many do not have an organized method of developing interinstitutional cooperation, structuring their internal management, or preparing to meet future expansion.

The design of an organizational process appropriate to consortia in general has been developed in this thesis. The design is based on an analysis of various materials: (1) literature on the consortium movement; (2) data gathered from a nationwide survey conducted by the author; (3) visits with directors of consortia and experts in the consortium field; (4) actual working experience …

An Application Of Organizational Development In An Institution Of Higher Learning, Stanford R. Bohne Jan 1974

An Application Of Organizational Development In An Institution Of Higher Learning, Stanford R. Bohne

All Master's Theses

An action research model was used to assess the application of Organizational Development theory, strategies, and interventions in the Business and Financial Affairs area of an institution of higher learning. Initial assessment indicated that a group of seven top managers of Business and Financial Affairs had low morale, a low trust level, lack of clarity of goals, and lack of teamwork. Results suggested that significant increases had occurred over the last 34-month period on measures of group development. It was concluded that such strategies merit further application and evaluation.

An Investigation To Identify Management Topics To Be Included In The Business Administration Program At Utah State University, Richard E. Zackrison

All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023

The development of management techniques which are in keeping with the changing environment has been termed "management science." Thrall points out that "management science has not yet reached a stage in which standardization or freezing of educational programs is desirable. " Further, he states that "we should explore new educational ideas, keeping in mind that many management scientists will become managers."

Management science may be in the rut described by Gordon and Howell. They assert that those businessmen and educators who fail to keep pace with change are forced to "plod in a rut they dug long ago. For them …

An Evaluative Study Of Financial Management For Institutions Of Higher Education As Related To Government Negotiated Research Contracting, Howard Haire

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

The research tested the feasibility of five hypotheses presented as elements to be investigated in the study. Responses to a mail questionnaire were analyzed and final audit reports were examined. The data obtained were used as evidence to support the contention that sound financial management in universities as related to research negotiated contracting is important and can be improved through these five elements:

As a basis for considering possible abandonment of the state income tax, Nebraskans ought to inform themselves as to the role it, along with the retail sales tax, is playing. Our State Tax Commissioner, in his 1967 Annual Report, has undertaken to supply this information. Unfortunately, too few people have access to this report; therefore, some of the facts taken from it are presented herein in somewhat condensed and modified form.
